Puncho Kondoh, a gag manga specialist known for his unique drawing style, scored the original Japanese contribution to Major League baseball—predating the U.S. debuts of Nomo, Matsui, or Ichiro—with his groundbreaking series Bob & His Funky Crew. First serialized in Weekly Big Comic Spirits in 1994, Bob & His Funky Crew began a new season in IKKI magazine in May 2009.
