After graduating from high school, enrolled in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. Quits at 24. Pursues a career as a manga artist at 25.Joins "Koike Kazuo Gekigason-juku(presently "Koike Kazuo Juku")’s sixth generation class at 30.
Debut with "Makeupper" (1989), then "Baki the Grappler", "Baki", "Hunger Wolf"(Aka. "Garoden" original story by Baku Yumemakura) on "Uppers" (Kodansha).
