Mx0 & Hatsukoi Limited **Ending**
Apparently, the series Mx0 and Hatsukoi Limited will end soon. No reason was given. By "soon", they will end within the next few chapters, not right away.

Both are featured in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump.

I just don't know anymore!
What do you Japanese people like these days!
Is the school life genre popularity over?
Do people over these hate magic and must mix with technology?
WHY!!!

Yes, i recognize that lately Hatsukoi has been slowly solving most of the "conflicts" around the plot, but i thought it would last a little longer, at least until the characters finished their school days... but it was pretty expected, what surprised me was the "outofnowhere" ending of Mx0, just 3-4 chapters ago the story seen as it had at least 20+ chapters more to offer

thread

» drunkguy on April 28th, 2008, 5:34pm

I was thinking Hatsukoi Limited wasn't going to last but I'm surprised about Mx0. Then again I did think the latest Mx0 chapter felt kinda odd. Guess it isn't as popular in Japan as it is here. Here's hoping they will end well.

cant believe that Mx0 is finishing i just finished re-reading it today and thought that it loads more room for the story to go on. saying that though the last chapter is a bit off given this news. i just dont know what the world is coming to. hopefully by some strange twist of fate this can be kept going, but i wont hold my breath

thread

» x0mbiec0rp on April 28th, 2008, 10:07pm

I wouldn't be surprised if the series pulled a name change and kept going, actually. Recent chapters have lead me to believe that Koizumi might be moved away from the M0 plate (since I think the author is bored with Koizumi's lack of magic), which would make the Mx0 title no longer apply. But I doubt it.
Too bad about the series, since it's one of the few I'd purchase if it were licenced in America.

thread

» mystichead on April 28th, 2008, 5:54pm

AS everyone just mentioned Mx0 had way more room
it seem too early to end the story......and i cant possibly see how the mangaka can give even a minimum satisfying ending to the whole story. Although I also do hope by some fluke he keeps on going....he might just end this and start a sequel....hopefully

but looking at it......the mangaka did start this as a one shot if you think about it and was not originally intending to make it a huge series......
maybe he just ran out of ideas (like the mangaka of zombie powder did)..... and might just hand it to a friend mangaka to finish the series......... O WELL

thread

» drunkguy on April 28th, 2008, 6:09pm

I was thinking this might have been the case though it really looked like he had at least another dozen or so chapters to go before that happened. Seems the prevailing theory at that momotato link is that the magazine just dumped it because it wasn't popular enough. Hard to believe considering its popularity around here.

"Maybe Mx0 will pull a Rosario+Vampire..."
I seriously hope so. They should be getting close to finishing their first year right? And then the sequel series could begin the second year... It's not like I can't believe that they would cancel it though, it's a very different type of shounen from the popular stuff, more like HxH without totally different pacing and narrative, so maybe it hasn't been a major hit.

Whatever they do, I hope they realize that Mx0 (unlike Pretty Face, IMO) cannot possibly be satisfactorily concluded in just a few chapters. Way too many characters who seriously, seriously deserve more. I would even be satisfied if they just concluded it like Hitomi no Catoblepas... anything that recognizes this series deserves more.

Didnt see mxo ending so soon. Hatsukoi Limited seemed to be crapping out in the pass chapters since the valentines day arc, but i liked the characters and the story. Both could have gone on longer, i hate quick endings that doesnt wrap up the story which these are probably going to be.

thread

» myopius on April 28th, 2008, 7:02pm

...Actually, I just read Mx0 chapter 97, and it makes perfect sense that it'll end soon... a bunch of major plot points which I had suspected were confirmed to be true. Seems like it will probably wrap up in a way that's fairly satisfactory but could have been much better done and which wasn't epic at all. So yeah, I don't think they will be pulling a R+V here. Although I'm betting they certainly could "extend" the story if they wanted, I strongly suspect that the way they'll end it is a way that is fairly conclusive and doesn't require a sequel at all. =|

thread

» Crenshinibon on April 28th, 2008, 7:27pm

This is a bit disappointing. I thought Mx0's last chapter was a little off somehow, and I guess this explains why. I was hoping it was going to end in about 50 chapters, just long enough so that it wouldn't drag, but I guess it's finishing sooner. Ah well...

Hatsukoi Limited is a bit more depressing to me. It's been consistently great since it started, and the only characters I didn't particularly feel attached to were the underdeveloped ones. I was hoping for another 80-100 chapters at least, but I guess it wasn't to be. Hopefully it'll get a more hashed out anime adaptation, although that seems unlikely.

this is a really bad news, man. i really like kawashita mizuki and HL. I thought it will end like when they reach 150+ chapters like ichigo100%. my favourite pair, uemura x yuu only appear as the main characters in a single chapter so far (chapter 3), and i thought he (uemura) will be the next manaka junpei. (T_T) about mx0, i'm not going to miss it as much 'cos there's just too much fillers, like the recent 'pudding' chapter, and then the 'aika x daimon love letter' chapter. but, i wonder how they'll end it. there's just too many unsettled things, like kuzumi x aika's relationship. i hope that the termination of these two series is just a rumour, a bad joke, or a publicity stunt to raise the popularity, no more than that. *crossing fingers*

thread

» alexdhamp on April 29th, 2008, 12:50am

Heh.. I thought the last chapter title and image was a bit forboding.. I agree with many that have said it, Mx0 feels like it still has much more to offer before a finale should even be considered.. I mean, I wanted to know whether or not Kuzumi helps her see her mother or not...ending it so soon just seems way too premature.. I mean, true they could skip ahead to show if he reaches his goal, but, I was hoping to see the journey there, too. Should change it's name and take it to a new publisher to give it a proper run.. Stupid Shounen Jump..

And I was thinking Mx0 would last...
It is kind of a mystery to me, how they decide on such things. I mean, there are tons and tons of manga and anime out there which don't even stand a chance to be as popular as some of these titeles forcefully ended on somebodys whim. At least I hope that Mx0 creators will somehow continue it...

thread

» thaiha on April 29th, 2008, 2:12am

I think its reasonable that Mx0 will end in next 3 or 4 chapters. According to the last chapter it seem Kuzumi will be forced to abandon his M0 card to get a real magic plate or get both of them. Either ways the title will lost its meaning "Mx0". I think there is a high possibility we will have a second season. May be he will follow the guy who said will grant him a real card and will return when he actually obtain the golden magic plate.

thread

» Romashk on April 29th, 2008, 7:00pm

Emm... I bet that guy(alumnia, whos offering real plate) wasn't in the original script. He is just a key to end Mx0. And I thought he said a real plate, not a golden one. There were times Mx0 could have ended("time trip" or "plate upgrade exam"), so if Mx0 didn't have to end, I bet Kuzumi would have not accepted real plate.

thread

» traeni on April 29th, 2008, 3:41am

HL was a bit iffy. I stopped after a few chapters, so not really unhappy to see it go. Mx0 is such a good read. One of the few mangas I actually re-read when I have the time. Hopefully the mangaka will pull a sequel thing. This is pretty sad really.

thread

» Darknemo2000 on April 29th, 2008, 6:23am

I have to agree with all those who said that HL wasn't all that good to begin with. The only thing that it was good at - artwork. Everything else sucked in it, but since here beautifully drawn images are enough to please fans, it became more popular than in Japan where they ask from mangaka bit more than just well drawn ecchi scenes.

HL was a waste of paper and ink to begin with so nothing bad about hearing it end. It is actually a good news as the mangaka will not waste her time on this useless stuff and maybe create some much better series. All that she needs a good characters (they were not memorable in HL as there were too many in too short time) and a solid plot and she would create another hit, as her artwork is superb to begin with. HL was a failure, though.

Now Mx0 is bit different matter. The plot was pretty good and was interesting but the lack of personality concernring the main characters (both Kazumi and Aika are weak for the main leads, and by weak I do not mean their actual strength but just memorable characters) eventually killed its popularity in Japan. In here however, it is going as popular as it was before, but in Japan it is dying out, yet I was thinking it would take much more time to end, to the point where it could provide a solid ending.

I never liked Mx0 to begin with as I felt both Kuzumi and Aika were a rather shallow characters, but the plot was good enough to make me follow the series. I wont be sad if it ends but I would still like something better than a rushed ending...

Yea, seriously WTF is up with that, MxO is one of my fav mangas so far and there are lots of stuff left to settle, like for example, the girl that likes Kuzumi, the 3rd years that haven’t made a significant move, the vice-principle, the black MO. Kuzumi used the black MO once so what the hell? 5 or something chapters wasted for a voice warp that didn’t do more then scare a couple of punks!
I’m seriously pissed of, there is atleast 30-40 chapters of material that the mangaka can use.
I swear to god that I will go into the street and murder someone if they do a Time-Skip to the third year and Kuzumi grants Aika’s wish or something…this is pissing me of!!

There is a thing called "lost in translation" maybe sum1 misinterpreted the article. maybe they r dropping the manga from the magazine, but they could still distribute the mangas themselves.

Unless the writer died or sumthing, i dont think they can finish this manga anytime soon. i mean, he still has 9 more Black Plate tests. thats 2-3 chapters per a test.

*rapes Shueisha's Shonen Jump*
How dare them! Hatsukoi limited I can understand. Like pretty face (from the mx0 mangaka), it's a lovecom and they can be dragged on a long time, or if you resolve a few conflicts it can actually end pretty quick (like in Pretty Face where they found the real sister in the end... although it left some room for continuity).

BUT WHY Mx0 then? It was anything but "resolved" Taiga is still a first year, ain't he? There also wasn't anything majorly unveiled yet, to start a huge arch (like "Aizen's death" in chapter 100 of Bleach). Kuzumi only had done one test by the old principal. And the relationship of him and Hiragi only recently got unfrozen after a pause. It's kinda very abrupt here.
So either they have just dumped it or this is some kinda troll on us. I can't imagine it to be over after 100 chapters, especially now...

Now leave it to DMC to thouroughly rape the jumpstaff back to their senses!

Hmm...had a thot. if this is the April edition of SJ, maybe its an April Fools joke? (trying to find sum hope biggrin )

If they r gunna end the series, then the logical conclusion is there gunna end it at chapter 100.

Well anyway, remember every1, theres always hope. theres always the chance that they have sumthing planned, That it might be a mistake, or that they might even change their mind.

who knows, maybe if were lucky hes taking a break from the manga to oversee an anime version, and hes just gunna start releaseing full manga volumes.

Well it isn't clear that it's to END or just not serialized anymore!
Even if it wasn't serialized in Jump anymore... there is still the Tankoubon (it seemed like it was popular that way with the #6 rank IN GENERAL of all other Tankoubons if the source is correct). There where other Manga's which were stopped serialized, but still continued.

I just hope for them that they don't pull a BREMEN. Which, after a flashback/revelation and the start of what was supposed to be a new arch, suddenly let the villian-boss die and then timeskipped sortly after that ended. that would suck <.<

Well there's at least _1_ copy used for scanslation, and there are some hardcore fans (though in the minority, probably like 1%) that buy the raws. But I hear buying second hand from places like Book-Off (which is in the USA, I hear), don't directly support the mangaka.

To me, the mangaka was doing a well job fleshing out the characters. I was expecting it to at least last as long as Ichigo 100%.
