Two Shonen Sunday Series Over... and Another Soon!?
Anonymous writes: In two consecutive issues, two series were abruptly ended in Shonen Sunday. In Issue #26, Marine Hunter ended with a total of 49 chapters and in Issue #27, Dive!! ended with a total of 48 chapters.

Also, a translated spoiler from 2Ch, http://sanzaki-kojika.livejournal.com/24881.html , about InuYasha reads that chapter 558 will be the last chapter, meaning that InuYasha will end in Issue #29, June 18th, after a 12 year run.

First off, id like to thank the academy for making Rumiko finally give up inuyasha. Id like to thank mom and dad, who bore me and gave me life, just so i could see this day. id also like to thank.... ummmm... uhhh... Satan. ya, satan, Thanks. Without your help, this day never wouldve come.

In all Srsns, I knew the series was gonna end before 560. You could just tell by how it was going. But watch, they have kids and name one "Nekoyasha" xD

Been such a sweet run by Andoru-Kun on June 9th, 2008, 12:18pm

I read ALOT of manga, and before i'd ever gotten into reading I had watched ALOT of Anime, Inuyasha was one of my first ten being a US citizen, but man did it ever get me into it. So I must say that although it's sad when stories end, because they've been there for so long, it also makes me feel good because it's finnally finished. I loved this series, truly great. And hey, if it doesnt fulfill your expectation's go read some fanfiction. I'm aquainted with quite a few auther's and must say these people can fricken write. Sueric-san is especcially good.

Wow its finally over maybe she can finally get back to writing good mangas. I hated Inuyasha it was boring, and pretty repetitive. And as VG cats once said "$@#$ Inuyasha It's Dragonball Z for girls!"

I don't think that inuyashas popularity will end within another 10 or so years smile

Inuyasha ending... by kojika on June 9th, 2008, 9:05pm

Well, even though the manga is coming to an end, according to Suwa Michiko's statement at a Q&A at Animazement, there is still a strong chance that it will be picked up and animated again. He wants to air it at prime time (Monday at 7) like it used to be, but I think Kekkaishi might be filling that spot. So, chances are, it will at least have another 5 years on it...

Re: Inuyasha ending... by Takiko on June 9th, 2008, 9:20pm

Well I remember even when the Inuyasha anime was ending, they expected to have the series pick back up when the end was near. Or continue it via OAVs...?

Anyhow, maybe we'll get an answer on the triangle unless Rumiko decides she wants a Ranma 1/2 ending (instead of a Maison Ikkoku one).

Re: Inuyasha ending... by kojika on June 10th, 2008, 7:32am

Yeah, but this was information I got from Animazement this year back in May...so, it's pretty certain it will continue this time around. Chances are though, it will be another tv series based on everything that was said. It's gonna hafta be about 60 episodes.

wonder what rumiko's got cooking since inuyasha's gonna end? she's got no other ingoing series, anyone think she'll retire?

Re: No Subject by kojika on June 10th, 2008, 7:31am

Well, she has been around for a while, and I know she's like the age of my mother...but there has been no news either way on what she's planned. I know she went back and finished up some of her older work, One Pound Gospel more recently, but it sounds like the general consensus on that was because she was reaching a milestone age (turning 50), but because she was planning on retiring. I think they'll probably stick something in the Shounen Sunday when it comes to it though..but, I think she'll probably do at least one more series, just a lot shorter than InuYasha.

Re: No Subject by Takiko on June 10th, 2008, 7:07pm

As much as she drag out Inuyasha, it would seem pretty lousy for her to quit after that. She should retire on a high note. What time/age do mangaka usually retire though?

And even though I'm not getting all watery-eyed over Inuyasha ending, I'd get watery-eyed over Rumiko finishing her work. sad She is probably the most well-known mangaka that got moved over to North America since Ranma 1/2 was one of the early series brought over (and the volumes came at the price of $30 a volume translated).

Re: No Subject by drunkguy on June 12th, 2008, 6:27pm

I'd be surprised if she retired. Of all the authors/artists, she seemed to be the most prolific. I can't think of any artist who pumped out seventeen pages+ every week for as long as she has. I wouldn't be surprised if she keeps drawing manga until she keels over.

INUYASHA'S END? by Chemmy on June 10th, 2008, 8:58pm

Inuyasha should be removed since long time ago. Takahasi Rumiko! You are loser! Kyahahaha.

"Takahasi Rumiko! You are loser!"

That looks like mangaka bashing to me. Perhaps hitting you with a mallet that Akane used on Ranma would prevent immature and tasteless comments like this. roll eyes

Re: OH YES by eternia on June 14th, 2008, 7:09pm

That manga is crap! Real crap! Why are you taking her side? I bet you guys have some intimate relationship, eh?

Re: OH YES by Takiko on June 14th, 2008, 11:27pm

The news post is no longer at the top but I'm surprised that nobody else was annoyed at the mangaka bashing. I guess the comments section get less viewership than the forums.

And I would say that I like Rumiko Takahashi's work. I'm not her #1 fan since I don't love her work to pieces.

But anyhow, I guess you just have some issues against her. i.e. You read the Inuyasha manga even after the anime ended and spent hours angry that there was no conclusion for about 2 years after it went off the air. Don't bash a famous mangaka without any real reasons and expect to not hear any objections.

Re: No Subject by mskakashi on June 13th, 2008, 8:36am

I have been reading the manga since the aime ended and let mee tell you, it has ben really good, things like kikyo finally died, the tessaiga merged with the tensaiga, sesshomaru got his own sword, we get to see his mother,I tell its too much to list, it is worth the read. sad to see it end but can't wait until the resolution.

I'm a HUGE fan of Ranma 1/2 (one of the greatest comedies ever known to man)
and i actually read Inuyasha as one of my first manga
It was my first favorite manga and i got to say that i am sad and happy
(sad that Inu-yasha is ending) but happy that rumiko will start a new series with a brand new storyline

*waits for the series in glee*

Thank you for the information xD

Well, it was only natural that Inuyasha has to retire after the permanent brain damage from all the times that b*tch told him to "sit".
