| New Poll - Favorite Event of Olympics 2012 |
There we have it, our first Olympics poll, from our member StephKuran. The given choices are not precisely how the IOC categorizes sports/disciplines, but too bad. We're not part of the IOC, nor do we follow their rules.
You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related): http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903
Previous Poll Results Question: What's better? Choices: Reading manga - votes: 6200 (39.5%) Watching anime - votes: 1505 (9.6%) Reading a book - votes: 1560 (9.9%) Watching a movie or TV - votes: 229 (1.5%) Doing exercise - votes: 514 (3.3%) Playing video games - votes: 1628 (10.4%) Eating - votes: 573 (3.7%) Sleeping - votes: 2187 (13.9%) Daydreaming - votes: 1044 (6.7%) Chatting - votes: 255 (1.6%) There were 15695 total votes. The poll ended: August 11th 2012
No surprises, given our demographics |

Where's Track and Field?
thread
Quote from wrldtrvlr Where's Track and Field? Athletics, which is the official designation for it
thread
Where's the I don't care about olympic options ?
thread
Quote from darkraiders Where's the I don't care about olympic options ? Then don't vote
thread
Doing that won't account for the persons who don't give a shit about Olympics or any other sports. And just lump them together who don't bother voting.
thread
Unprofessional response! Sounds like somebody needs to lose their virginity to release pent up frustration... Banhammer!
thread
I was also looking for this option.
thread
same here. what's so fun about watching others doing sport?
thread
Quote Gymnastics - 24.2% there sure are a lot of perverts here... voted soccer. would probably vote badminton if LCW didn't choke...
thread
Lol at the perverts comment. It might be true to some degree, but I don't think that's why it's so popular. If people wanted to see girls in minimal clothing, other sports show more skin than gymnastics. Most of the people I know who like watching gymnastics are females who enjoy watching it because it's creative, beautiful, and just straight up amazing. I personally prefer watching men's gymnastics more because of how powerful it looks. And pommel horse is my favorite gymnastics apparatus to watch. Gymnastics would also include rhythmic gymnastics, which is an extremely cool looking sport. Especially the ribbon portion.
But I voted for Athletics. I love track and field. Mostly track and the jumping side of field (not too interested in the throwing part, but it's cool too).

voted soccer. would probably vote badminton if LCW didn't choke... There sure are. I vote Gymnastics. 3rd choice would be Fencing. In case you're wondering, my first choice is one that isn't given here - "I don't care."
thread
Badminton. especially 'the opera soap' part.
thread
Quote from pyonk Badminton. especially 'the opera soap' part. So true. Badminton is quite popular in my country, and I played it often. That, the soap opera, and the fact that my there's no live broadcast of Olympics games (except soccer) in my country made me choose badminton. Or maybe they actually broadcast it, but I didn't watch TV that often to know.
thread
I voted Soccer (Football), though everyone throwing matches at Badminton was quite entertaining. I'm surprised so many people voted for gymnastics; I don't even really consider that a sport, let alone something worthy of the olympics. ... and where are the track and field events? Athletics? You put field hockey and handball up there but not the marathon? And Equestrian... I'm still not really sure what that event is or how it made it into the olympics.
thread
Basketball. I'm a fan of the sport. Yea, I'm surprised with the gymnastics as well. I thought soccer would have the most votes, but... Oh well..
thread
Quote from mizaki2100 Basketball. I'm a fan of the sport. Yea, I'm surprised with the gymnastics as well. I thought soccer would have the most votes, but... Oh well.. Olympic football isn't exactly the pinnacle of the sport is it? (Neither for tennis, but at least most of the top players show up...) Mine would always be athletics (as 200m sprint holds a special place in my heart). Heck, it's even complete with double Mobot this year.
thread
It's a tie between athletics and swimming.
thread
Voted Gymnastics, why?
Because most sports are way to boring to watch.
only sports worth considering watching from this list are
Boxing, Equestrian, Fencing, Field Hockey, Gymnastics, Handball, Judo, Soccer, Table tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Vollyball, Waterpolo and wrestling
Then the quite boring sports which always look the same get taken out Equestrian, fencing, table tennis, tennis, vollyball
And things that take too long like soccer, handball, field hockey and Waterpolo are taken out.
Boxing, Wrestling, judo, taekwondo and gymnastics are left
Wrestling has made itself look fake. Judo isn't quite my thing. Boxing is kinda interesting Taekwondo is awesome and might have won but there are so many action movies where I can enjoy Taekwando more. (with explosions and stuff) And gymnastics is just most interesting to look at. Also don't let people forget that gymnastics also has dudes competing.
I could also have chose for the similar dives or water ballet or something, but that wasn't really a choice.
thread
The ending ceremony, XD. Thank goodness it's over.
thread
I can't choose more than one huh? Timed/Speed races are always fun: track & field, canoe/kayak, rowing, cycling, and swimming. Just man against man... and man against clock. Fairly objective sports. Gotta love the underdog. Gymnastics is cool to watch... but it's so stressful since the scoring is subjective... Volleyball and soccer/football is especially fun when the scores are pretty even.
thread
Diving. Looks pretty and it's pretty short. Which leaves me plenty of time to do other stuff before and after watching it.
thread
Wrestling the Greco-Roman kind coz i really hate freestyle wrestling
and wtf is wrong with all of you who vote gymnastics...sport like this should not be on the olympics...famous person in gymnastics mean that they can fall on their ass and still win and the rythmic gymnatic is an offence to woman all over the world...and if you cant see that...your wrong
thread
voted for athletics. always funny to see the distorted faces on slo-mo replay for the sprints
thread
Where's Beachvolleyball? Totally different from Volleyball!
thread
Diving. For the completed perverted reason of men with amazing bodies being 90% naked. And its also really cool to look at, and takes a lot of talent.
I also like gymnastics a lot. But not for perverted reasons (besides most of those girls are like 15 so its pretty wrong). But its pretty amazing what they can do.
thread
gymnastic. i like rugby more though. most people don't know how fit and strong they are how impossibly hard and amazing what they're doing. i hate the floor routine though. in my opinion it's not fit to be a sport
thread
Gymnastics, but specifically Rhythmic Gymnastics. (:
Love, Pika.
thread
I have to agree with the slight majority and go with gymnastics. I could care less about them doing their little flips and who gets what medal. I like seeing the slow motion and still images of them contorting their bodies. Gotta love those skin tight spandex suits. Mmm mmm mmmmm! Swimming isn't bad, especially with the little Chinese doper girl. It's always fun to see how China will cheat (not like it mattered since they still got 2nd place overall). Haven't seen a face that unnaturally meaty on a built body since I visited the cancer part of a hospital. Talk about meat head lol
thread
I chose swimming because it's something I've been enjoying and doing (not competitively though) for most of my life. The drama and excitement during each event is sure damn exciting every time.
Also enjoyed handball, judo, and wrestling as well.
Boxing was the biggest joke and embarrassment of these games. I'm sickened by most the actions the judges/ refs' actions and by some of the fighters' / countries tactics about slowing down and stalling fights, even to the point when the fighter(s) look like they're about to throw in the towel... and they still wound up winning. I basically felt sick when I found out that the Uzbek, Atoev, wound up winning bronze when he should've been eliminated in the second round after he precisely employed the same tactics I stated in my last sentence.
thread
Wow... I'm not voting in this week's poll, because I haven't been following the Olympics- at all. I can't believe it myself, but after following it thus far in my life, I'm totally over it.
thread
Athletics!! Track/field for the win!
