I totally like the ghost stories in hot weather option. Contrary to our winter Halloween, in Japan ghost stories are supposed to cool you down, with fright, in the summer. They have the fun games like 100 Candles, (you can just use 13) where each participant tells a scary story and blows out a candle causing the room to slowly grow darker; when all the candles are out a ghost is supposed to appear.
Kokkuri San is another, similar to our Ouiji board. Two people sit both holding onto a pen on top of a paper with the Japanese alphabet, hirigana, written out on it. Then the pen, held by both people, begins to move at the direction of neither of them spelling out the answer to any question you ask. Being scared is definitely more fun in the summer. ;P (I have to say, Japanese ghost stories are particularly gruesome.)
You can play Kokkuri at home by writing the letters of the alphabet on sticky memo pads and placing them in a circle, then turning a glass upside down on the table in the middle and having at least two people place their fingers on it.
I sense my poll suggestion won't be a big hit again. Off to work on a bikini poll. Whatever sells, I say.
Hear cicadas, similar to a cricket, here-->
