This is my first review, so bear with me! (:

Plot/Story
"Emma" is about a girl, in Victorian-era England, who is taken in from a truly horrible life, and trained to be a maid by a good, older woman. Eventually, Emma meets Will, the eldest of a wealthy family. As they fall in love, they have to battle the obstacles of family, seperation, and society because of their social status difference. This story is mostly about Emma's life after she met Will. A good plot, kept me engaged, and I don't think it will have a problem keeping anyone else engaged, as well. Though, the first few chapters are a bit challenging to get through because of the slowness of the plot at that time. But Rome wasn't built in a day; a story shouldn't be built in a chapter. For this, I gave it a 4.7. (:

Characters
Everyone is normal. Even though Will is from a rich family, he doesn't run around proclaiming how amazing he is and how perfect he is at everything. Emma, even though she was from a poor background, doesn't sit in a corner crying, "Pity me!" as people give motivational speeches that inspire her to run into the world and catch her man. No, everyone is just normal. They made mistakes, and as you're reading, it envokes some sort of emotion, which is all I could ask for. No one is perfect; I like it if my stories aren't perfect either.

Sometimes it can be hard to relate to them, though, because I'm not from Victorian-era England and I don't have to deal with social status (or at least, I can tell people to shove it and move somewhere else if I did). But, if you have a boyfriend or something and your parents are like, "No, you can't date him, he seems too different." Then this manga could be amazing for you! I'm positive that these characters and their situations are relatable, so, therefore, it got my rating of 5.

Drawing Style
I admit it. The drawing isn't beautiful. Some of the proportions are off (such as eye width and length, faces, bodies, etc.), but the art is nice enough. What do I mean by nice enough? Nice enough to get the job done and not have me running to try and draw my own beautiful characters and paste them where the characters should be so I can have something to look at. It's not that bad. Not many (who are looking for story) should be off put by this. For those looking for art, stick with it. The story will keep you and the art gets better as it progresses. And if you enjoy the art, you enjoy the art, so that's an added bonus for you! "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." For the art, I gave it a 4.

Enjoyment
I loved it. I mean, I loved it. It was a great story, and I finished all the chapters (it was completely scanlated when I started reading it) in two days. It was amazing and I felt with the characters - I pitied them, I laughed at stuff they did if it was funny, I had sparkles in my eye everytime something good happened to them. The enjoyment level for me was to the max, if not slightly below it. So, for that, I gave it a 5.

Overall
Overall, this manga is great. I read it and I enjoyed it. The art is a bit mediocre but no one should be scared off by it. The characters were like humans - they had their own strengths, weaknesses, fears, and flaws. Don't be off-put by the genre, I'm the spokesperson for 'I don't read much Seinen, I'm not sure about this' and look at me, I've fallen in love with "Emma". It is, by no means, a perfect story with all the right elements, but I thought it was more than I could have asked for. I hope all of you who are skeptical about this manga give it a try; it really is worth it.
