Plot/Story
Louise is the third daughter of the de la Valiel family. She lives in a world where there are Nobles (people that can use magic) and Commoners (people that can’t use magic). Even though Louise visits a fancy magic school, she is known for being unskilled and whenever she tries to use magic it will end up in an explosion. In the sacred ritual of summoning a familiar, she summons a Commoner (Hirago Seito, a boy of the same age) from the “real world” unlike everyone else who summons small dragons and other animals. Louise has no choice but to accept Seito as her familiar, while Seito himself do not know what is going on. The rumour of a Commoner being summoned as a familiar is being spread around the school and everyone makes fun of Louise for it, but what is that weird mark on Seito’s hand?

Characters
The characters are not really original and seem like they were taken from Shakugan no Shana anime. But they are very good and entertaining non the less.

Drawing Style
Drawings are not the best I have ever seen, but they are pretty good/good enough; i cannot complain.

Enjoyment
It a fantasy comedy with very enjoyable characters. It is really fun to read, though its not the best and deepest manga that will make you addicted, it's good enough.

Overall
Zero no Tsukaima might not be the best of the best in all points, but its pretty good and above average. If you enjoyed Shakugan no Shana or just like Mahou Shoujo, comedy, some fanservice and fantasy, then give it a try.

Although the first few volumes are indeed reminiscent of purely fun reads like Love Hina, the later volumes do become much more serious. I was pleasantly suprised at the depth of character and plot development that occurs. Indeed, I agree with Faith, please reserve judgement on aspects like plot unless you have read further than the first couple of intro volumes.

With all due respect, The manga only has what, a few volumes out? Unless it's one of those manga which ends pretty early (like at the 7th or 8th volume), it isn't good to make a judgement so early. Aside from the art looking somewhat similar to that of Shakugan no Shana, It's definitely not the same, and no, the characters are also not taken from SnS. The only thing that's similar is the tsundere characteristic of Loiuse and Shana, as well as the anime seiyuus of the main characters and talking weapons. Other than that, it seemed pretty original, especially when it has a novel series of its own. A 3.7 on first impression, nothing more.

Adequate plot description, but the review is lacking in the characters, drawing, and enjoyment review categories.
