So the schema object we use for that response is one that has all those objects defined, but the actual API function only loads the specific fields. It was a tradeoff between managing dozens of different schema objects for essentially different "views" of the data.

I could solve this in three ways I guess:
1) Have a separate function to return the list of filtered groups
2) Release a v2alpha function that includes metadata for each group about whether it's filtered or not, similar to how the releases search works.

It was intended. I could probably modify it to allow searching the beginning of all distinct words in the category name, but I won't be able to enable middle of word wildcard searches.

So it turns out we're actually under a denial of service attack from some bots in Russia. Trying to deal with it now, but there are thousands of IPs.
Edit: Okay, I think I dealt with this batch for now. It was only about 150 IPs.

It might be a scaling issue. I added another web worker node and the API CPU usage has decreased a bit on the existing nodes. Let me know if it happens again.

This wasn't intended ... my functional test for this API function was terrible. I fixed it and updated the test to not suck.

That is available on the series search function. Look at the order by options.
Edit: you can also use include rank metadata option to include the current positions. The series search function powers the What's New, Series Stats, List Stats and Series Info pages.
