I believe Kou knew his feelings first even if he wasn't prepared to act on them. The reveal gives us a clearer understanding of Futaba's evolving emotions, but Kou never had that 'light bulb' ...

How can it be refreshing and cliched at the same time? And what does "for a shoujo" mean? The story (and it is a story- the plot is solid) is beautiful. The slow pace allows for a wide range of emotions- we really get a sense of the thoughts and feelings ...

i love this story. starting with the loser who was her life on, Kyoko's attitude and actions ultimately have a positive affect on the people around her. Sho to Ren, Ruriko to Chiori, they've all benefited from knowing her. a story like that takes time.
