Why so many Magical Combat Highschool mangas
(3 posts, 163 views) Posted: 58d 16h, 48m ago by plann in Manga General
There are so many magical-combat mangas these days, most with high school thrown in. The first one I encountered was Freezing, but I see so many of them, like http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=109987 .

I don't like most of these. Purely pers ...
When was the last time you sat down and read a book?
(485 posts, 43342 views) Posted: 58d 16h, 51m ago by plann in Chatter Box
I finished four or five last week. Three hardly count; re-reading a trilogy written in the 1960's that I just found my copies of - science fiction dreck, the Anthony Villiers series. Fun, but valueless.

Most of the good books I read are hand-me-down from my colleg ...

I have a daughter, and we went through a lot of the VHS tapes back in the day (as in before DVDs). I found it more than a little mind-numbing. ...
Import in exported file format
(4 posts, 673 views) Posted: 189d 1h, 48m ago by plann in Suggestions & Bugs
Here I am in 2014 really wishing you had the same feature!

I use MangaWatcher on my Android pad and I'd love to be able to take my exported lists from there and import them to my MU list. Even if it's just the names of the manga.

Any possibility of be ...

Gotta second jedinat. It started on an upward path, got happy. Why end it with a crash like that? I was disappointed. Did the editor just say end it in three issues, we don't want it any more? ...
Does any body use manga reading extensions?
(10 posts, 1795 views) Posted: 508d 18h, 44m ago by plann in Manga General
I don't use an extension, but on my Android tablet I use an app called Manga Watcher (not free). It downloads content for me to read offline and scans every few hours for new chappies.

Every so often it stops working for a site for a while, and then gets fixe ...

Good Ending
Hana Kimi. Yes, I know it was posted already. I'll second it, or third it. Charming, silly, only slightly strange.
Hapi Mari or Fated to Love you if you want to try thrown together and end up in love. They have their ups and downs, though. ...

Hetakoi - I agree with you. Already read it, and liked it a lot.
Usostuki Paradox had been on my dead list for some time. I'd been watching the wrong site for releases, and not seen one since 23. Thanks for the reminder.
Itoshi no Kana I read last week. I liked it ...
Very disappointed in Asate Dance's ending
(2 posts, 316 views) Posted: 510d 21h, 43m ago by plann in Asatte Dance
I just read Asatte Dance. I've seen manga rushed to a conclusion before, but after ninety chapters the story line is abandoned and everything pulled together in three blocks that have little to do with the rest of the story. Sure, it might end that way in real life, ...
Looking for really good romance, with smut.

I like a good romance. Shoujo is one of my favorite categories, despite being neither female nor teenaged. There's something so satisfying about everything working out for a good couple in the end.

What series have done a good job of combining real ro ...

Does any body use manga reading extensions?
(10 posts, 1795 views) Posted: 1142d 17h, 48m ago by plann in Manga General
I don't, because I find this site to be perfectly useful. It frequently tells me about a new chapter before the chapter is on any of the reading sites that I use.

If the plugin works on Chrome on Android then I will try it. Right now I use an Android app named Manga ...
If you ever have son/daughter, will you introduce them to manga? And at what age?
(30 posts, 1958 views) Posted: 1231d 17h, 24m ago by plann in Chatter Box
She introduced herself to it on her own. Reads Full Metal Jacket when she's taking a break from Pride and Prejudice (which she is reading for pleasure, not as an assignment). ...
Help me understand Boku no Hatsukoi o Kimi ni Sasagu 52 and 53

Janie0016

Thanks! Maybe I should learn to read Japanese, so I don't have to read at the rate of scanlation. Then again, I'd just have asked the same question sooner, since the original is published at a similar pace. ...

(3 posts, 1022 views) Posted: 1327d 17h, 14m ago by plann in Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu
Umm, maybe I'm just getting too old to change topics quickly. Chapter 51 is still Mayu and Takuma. 52 and 53 are a hard-cut to another couple. Can anyone explain the continuity to me? confused

I seem to see that the young man involved, Kou, is Mayu's ex (w ...

This is not a complaint...

For quite a few years, my answer was "nothing." I knew what I wanted from life, the key things that would make me happy, and I had them all.

Aging took the glory out of one of those things, the economy another, but it was absolu ...
Your Favorite Manga of all time (or maybe top 5)
(639 posts, 128787 views) Posted: 1401d 18h, 43m ago by plann in Manga General
Haven't read many yet, I'm new to this, but I'd have to pick Hana Kimi. It's just so sweet (I'm sure that many will find it sickeningly so) and leaves out the hentai bits except for two (?) pages. ...

After a long hiatus, Okusama wa Joshi Kousei had two more chappies translated this week, by Kurosaki. Danna-sama's behavior is so different from anything in previous chapters that I am totally amazed eek. Anyone else have an opinion on this turn of events ...

I just love boring manga with f*cked up ending, that's all biggrin

Ooh, I could have done without reading that. I should have taken "f*cked up ending" as a warning and not read it.

Seriously, don't the final chapp ...

What's wrong with Shoujo Cliches?

How many times have you been confessed to?
(134 posts, 11882 views) Posted: 1499d 17h, 5m ago by plann in Chatter Box
Never. At least, not the way it seems to happen in manga. I have never had anyone of either sex come up to me out of the blue and say "I like you. Go out with me."
Do they really do it that abruptly in Japan? Is it less likely to happen to me because I' ...
