New Poll - Dropped Series
(24 posts, 1347 views) Posted: 75d 13h, 51m ago by philip72 in News
Scanlators who love the series they work with don't do that. They're trying to make the series as popular as possible, and dropping it countermands that goal.
Scanlators who do it for solely for their epeen, on the other hand, will however drop it for tho ...
New Poll - Best Shounen (besides One Piece)
(48 posts, 2945 views) Posted: 147d 0h, 22m ago by philip72 in News
I'm here almost every day and I never saw the list. That's probably because I, like 99.9% of the people who've joined MU, never use the forum anymore. It does explain the teeny fujo odor all over the final selection though.

Maybe if you want to g ...
New Poll - Best Shounen (besides One Piece)

Yotsubato and GTO didn't make it because the poll is bait, as evidenced by the presence of Black Butler, Horimiya and Pandora Hearts (which I enjoy, but seriously, not even top 100).
If it was a serious poll the exclusion of Dr. Slump/Dragonball, Yu-Gi-Oh, Bas ...
New Poll - Genders and Demographics

Quote from residentgrigo
good female targeted manga are all sorts of things but "rare as an unicorn" they are not. They just don´t sell that well when compared (and moe is a seinen phenomenon)

I can't think of more than a handful real ...
New Poll - Genders and Demographics
(28 posts, 2358 views) Posted: 208d 11h, 50m ago by philip72 in News
You're right to some extent.
I imagine the female readership for Jump is an order of magnitude larger than male readership of Margaret. In addition, Jump caters to it's female readership somewhat with works like Prince of Tennis (Is there a single s ...

I'd be remiss if I didn't also mention Yoshikawa Miki who's enjoying a surge of popularity right now with her "Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches"; and the utterly amazing and fantastic Kubo Mitsurou (Tokkyuu!!, Moteki, Again!), who ...
New Poll - Genders and Demographics
(28 posts, 2358 views) Posted: 209d 11h, 13m ago by philip72 in News
There's some excellent josei and shoujo out there, but it's rarer than unicorns. The vast majority of it is either excessively maudlin or sociopathic, the kind of tripe that makes mindless and generic T&A harems look like works of high art.

It' ...

Heavens yes, lots of people, that's terribly, terribly frightening.
Far worse than an "unrealistic" Nuclear holocaust or an "unrealistic" asteroid catastrophe .

New Poll - Demographic Hate 2
(54 posts, 3452 views) Posted: 244d 16h, 15m ago by philip72 in News
It's funny, obviously the female-oriented demographics will lose, by a high margin too I imagine. (Women are largely ambivalent to seinen and shounen, but guys view most shoujo and josei with disgust and revulsion.) However, most of the comments here sa ...

Yours is the only honest choice.

I think this poll is just a clever plan to out all the Chuuni's here on Baka-Updates.
Almost 25% fancy themselves strategists or masterminds, and this comments thread is full of edgemasters telling us that they'd be Hell Kin ...

Wow top pleb.
No tablet has the resolution a good, large monitor (or high-def laptop screen) can provide, and double-page threads look like ass on them. Further ...

Recent Outage Due to DMCA Request

And just like with Wikipedia, using the covers constitutes fair use.
Kodansha had no business issuing a DMCA. It should be ignored and your host threatened with litigation if it pulls that stunt again.

Seriously lambchopsil, you've got to stop caving to these legally ...

New Poll - Paid Manga

It really is abysmal. Although I'm a paying subscriber, I virtually never visit Viz or Crunchyroll anymore, and stick with the pirated content almost exclusively. Better readers, no weaboo fright, and (often) better quality translations.

You're not missing much.

I'm subscribed to Viz and Crunchyroll, and both have garbage, 3rd-rate, unusable readers and occasionally iffy translations. They're also deathly afraid of perceived weabooism, so they localize everything to hillbilly Am ...

Sorry Panos, I have no clue.

This is all quite suspicious, they haven't even told us who the shady group who issued this extremely overreaching takedown notice is, and there's no legal reason why they can't.

I think MangaUpdates has been cowe ...

Also how does linking to scanlators sites violate the DMCA? Furthermore why not just take down the links in the notice? Though rights holders may wish it does, the DMCA doesn't work that way.

Something doesn't seem right here. ...
