Translating Manga Fandom: The Case of Manga Scanlation
(19 posts, 4488 views) Posted: 695d 14h, 28m ago by eni in News
This is really interesting. I have to read through it later when I have time.
I did my bachelor's thesis on the scanlation (consumer) youth scene (for social work) and now prepare my master's thesis on the community relations in one of the international g ...

The majority of scanlators is really in for 'selfish' reasons, e.g. promoting own reading interests, wanting to read certain manga nobody else would do or simply training in language learning or image editing. This isn't negative. It's the driv ...

Wow, I can't say that I ever run in problems with telling people about my hobby. In fact, they're often interested and want to know more. But I think about how to explain it based on the person in front of me. I also agree with someone before me who pos ...

I agree that horror and guro should be seperated. Horror is part of my favorite literature but guro is just sick and something I greatly avoid. It's like putting smut and hentai into the same pot: completely different audience.

You're a little wrong with this letter. Distribution rules ain't limited to BL groups. Actually, as Terpsichore said, I rarely come across a BL group with these kind of rules.

On the other hand, many shoujo groups are very protective on their releases. One ...
