Why is Crunchyroll a scanlator group?
(47 posts, 9379 views) Posted: 1362d 4h, 13m ago by babel in Suggestions & Bugs
Quote from FormX
I don't know about this, only the latest chapter is free and then you need to pay for the same chapter after the newest one comes out.
Eg. Kimi no Iru Machi 257 is no longer free on CR. ...

Crunchyroll releases certainly don't qua ...
Group Links Removed
(226 posts, 50736 views) Posted: 1415d 3h, 22m ago by babel in News
If not for the online readers raking in the cash in full view of the original publishers, I doubt that this would have ever happened. The only thing the morons who targeted this site will achieve is to push more business their way, and I have to wonder if this was not the in ...
Group Links Removed
(226 posts, 50736 views) Posted: 1415d 8h, 26m ago by babel in News
This I think is the main issue here. The on-line reader sites (the only pirates here) - are going to become even busier and richer now.
Are they being dealt with in any way? Nope.
This is retarded. ...
New Poll - Last Gen Consoles
(52 posts, 4950 views) Posted: 1426d 12h, 4m ago by babel in News
PC-only (and a hell of a lot of hours on 2 PSPs I've owned since 2005- jailbroken of course..). I've played on other peoples PS3s and Xbawks 360s, but wasn't hugely impressed (although I DO like the Xbox controller - I use one on my PC for the ...
Vortex Scans need translators
(3 posts, 701 views) Posted: 1457d 20h, 55m ago by babel in Recruitment
I was just over at their site and read that their main translator for Minamoto's Story (PROzess) has left them, and the translator who was learning the ropes was having too much difficulty, so they are now in trouble and asking for new recruits.

They can be re ...
PSP or PS2 RPG suggestions?
(20 posts, 2998 views) Posted: 1463d 2h, 15m ago by babel in Games
I've had two PSPs since 2005 and I still use them regularly. Over the years I've come to the conclusion that some types of games are better on it than others. Driving and straight fighting games are not very good IMHO - the PSP pad gives too much p ...
/a/non scanlations folds
(0 posts, 1498 views) Posted: 1545d 1h, 42m ago by babel in Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio
Sadly /a/non scanlator has announced he's dropped the last two titles he was scanlating, one of which was Arpeggio. He's done a great job and I wish him well.

Here's hoping someone picks this title up and does as good a job as he did. ...
Sura's Place/JanimeS Closing
(77 posts, 15856 views) Posted: 1617d 13h, 16m ago by babel in News
Sad news indeed. The even sadder thing is that Mangafox won't give a $h*t about it.

Well all I can say is thanks to Sura/JanimeS for all the years and thousands of hours (and dollars!) spent bringing us all those titles. ...

The Endless Abyss Isn't So Endless
(17 posts, 3380 views) Posted: 1739d 17h, 17m ago by babel in News
I always hate to see groups go. I hate it even more when they are good at what they do, and have been established a long time, like EA and Willful Muse were. There's always a small voice which says 'is this a trend which will result in the death of tru ...
Merry Christmas 2012
(16 posts, 4518 views) Posted: 1759d 14h, 33m ago by babel in News
Jingle bells to everyone at baka and to all the scanlators who made my 2012 better for their presence.
Wishing you a happy and peaceful new year too. ...
RippersAnime/Crazyankan scans stop
(7 posts, 2293 views) Posted: 1770d 9h, 12m ago by babel in Battle Angel Alita: Last Order
As far as I know, the new group (Pixie Dust) is using the translations from the Rippersanime group. The future of the scanlations depends on whether or not those translations continue, unless the group at some point gets its own TLer of course.

Personally I hope ...
RippersAnime/Crazyankan scans stop
(7 posts, 2293 views) Posted: 1770d 21h, 39m ago by babel in Battle Angel Alita: Last Order
The new western publishers of Last Order (Kodansha) requested that the group stop scanlating this title, and the group have complied. Consequently, chapter 114 is the last release by them.

Personally, it's a sad day for me as I've been following the g ...
Is this all the same story?
(7 posts, 2709 views) Posted: 1778d 9h, 49m ago by babel in Bakemonogatari (Novel)
Quote from gundamgundam
Also, "Monogatari" is NOT a formal, official term for the franchise, that's why nobody uses it formally in any encyclopedia/database since again, it's an informal term.

Check Wikipedia again. You'll noti ...
Scanlations now ending
(0 posts, 990 views) Posted: 1796d 8h, 23m ago by babel in Sweet Blue Flowers
According to Lillicious, who have been scanlating this title, Aoi Hana is now licensed by Jmanga and as such they are discontinuing the scanlations. All existing chapters will be pulled from their site in a couple of weeks from today. ...
New Poll - Bad Parts of Manga
(38 posts, 5113 views) Posted: 1888d 13h, 39m ago by babel in News
Yeah two good examples there of poor endings. I think it's because of the way that Manga are created that leads to so many of these. Simply put, when you write a novel, you create the whole thing in one go for publication, so if the story was weak at the e ...
New Poll - Bad Parts of Manga
(38 posts, 5113 views) Posted: 1888d 14h, 4m ago by babel in News
I was really torn here. If I could I would have voted for Bad/weak endings AND Uninspiring/lame characters AND Lackluster plot AND Lack of originality. Many Manga titles (especially those for the Shounen demographic) seem frequently plagued by the combina ...
Negima to end after three more chapters
(32 posts, 3614 views) Posted: 2084d 18h, 59m ago by babel in News
lambchopsil: "I for one am very excited. Did you know that Negima was the very first series that I helped scanlate?"

Hell, I knew I'd seen your name before when I first joined here, but I couldn't place it exactly. Now I remember, it was at Aq ...
Do you watch less anime now?
(121 posts, 13692 views) Posted: 2098d 0h, 43m ago by babel in Manga General
I'm actually the opposite of most of you guys. I'm watching more anime and reading less manga than I did at this time last year.

Like many I started by watching anime and gradually finding out about manga. By 2009 my manga reading outstripped the n ...

(9 posts, 1360 views) Posted: 2098d 1h, 8m ago by babel in Klan
Beautiful art but somehow the story isn't grabbing me. On top of that this is yet another title that's suddenly sprouted watermarks on every scanlated page, which kind removes the only real reason I was reading it. I'll certainly be dropping it unle ...
Dynasty Scans Closing
(14 posts, 2210 views) Posted: 2151d 0h, 37m ago by babel in News
Though I haven't followed their recent stuff, I used to download most of their output in the early days (which goes back to about 5 or 6 years ago IIRC), especially Pastel which I still read. They did a great job on their titles; only a small handful of groups could m ...

About matias067
(131 posts, 14598 views) Posted: 2238d 6h, 51m ago by babel in News
Very sad that yet another Scanlator is calling it quits due to the greed of others. I'm kind of surprised that matias067 has only been warned for his actions, but I understand that MU is short of staff and need to hang on to those they have. I hope he stops this c ...
