New Poll - Author vs. Artist
(36 posts, 3303 views) Posted: 923d 6h, 58m ago by naikan in News
For me, the author and the artist are equally important. I chose "doesn't matter", but not because I don't care about them, but because in many cases although the author dictates the general storyline, the artist has chosen to partner with t ...
I want the spoiler
(1 posts, 716 views) Posted: 945d 20h, 46m ago by naikan in Dousei Ai
I don't know if you still want an answer to your question, but it's a tragedy because:

1 - a lot of bad relationships and breakups (and a couple good ones too, of course!)
2 -
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
not everyone ends up with the person they (and the r ...
New Poll - Marrying a Manga Character
(56 posts, 2987 views) Posted: 979d 23h, 5m ago by naikan in News
Oh, I don't know if I'd marry some of my favorite characters even if they were real. bigrazz

But there's no way I'm going to marry a painted picture of some anime character on a pillow or hump a life-size piece of cardboard. Some have gone t ...

New Poll - Marrying a Manga Character
(56 posts, 2987 views) Posted: 980d 1h, 57m ago by naikan in News
Are you asking (1) if this manga/anime character suddenly became real or we suddenly became 2D, would we marry them OR (2) would we marry this drawing on a piece of paper (b/c that has happened) ? ...
New Poll - Scanlation Watermarks
(113 posts, 6962 views) Posted: 984d 22h, 6m ago by naikan in News
People here seem to be very confused about something. Scanlators do not watermark manga to claim that it is their property. They are watermarking manga to show that it is a free scanlation because aggregators are taking that manga and claiming it is their pr ...
MangaStream Drops VIZ Media Licensed Series
(170 posts, 15194 views) Posted: 984d 22h, 15m ago by naikan in News
This, so much. What happened to the days when the moment a series got licensed, it was common sense for the scanlation teams to drop it? There used to be a sort of symbiosis between scanlation groups and English manga companies--the scanlation groups wo ...
New Poll - Effect of Bad Ending
(31 posts, 1817 views) Posted: 993d 21h, 8m ago by naikan in News
Well, to be fair to the author, bad endings are subjective. To me, I disliked the ending of Samurai Deeper Kyo because it felt like the author took a couple bad liberties with the plot in order to force a certain type of ending (trying not to spoil it...).

But then again, I was fin ...
New Poll - Effect of Bad Ending
(31 posts, 1817 views) Posted: 994d 0h, 58m ago by naikan in News
If an author had one series that ended badly, I might read his/her new series, but I would hold off on buying any volumes of the new series until it was completely published. What's more painful than reading a bad ending on a 30+ volume manga is reading a ba ...
Why Manga Publishing Is Dying (And How It Could Get Better)
(53 posts, 4552 views) Posted: 1001d 22h, 9m ago by naikan in News
It is cheaper for me to ship a raw volume of manga from Japan than to buy the translated version in North America. Since I can read both Japanese and English and many English translations leave much to be desired, the choice for me is simple: I pay less for a h ...

New Poll - Favorite Character's Death
(21 posts, 1160 views) Posted: 1337d 0h, 55m ago by naikan in News
It depends on the quality of the manga. If the manga is still interesting, I'd keep reading it. In some cases, the manga gets really bad but my fave chara's the only reason I still read it, so in those cases, I'd stop.

Still waiting to see what is up with that ...
New Poll - Manga E-books
(23 posts, 943 views) Posted: 1341d 2h, 11m ago by naikan in News
Although all of these are risks of ebooks, it is also possible for a fire to burn your book, for your cat to destroy your book, or for it to simply yellow and discolor with age. With ebooks, even if you accidentally lose your reader, you can still redownload all of the book ...
New Poll - Manga E-books

Um, yeah, I would be complaining. I read a lot of yaoi, but I also read a lot of shounen and other genres. And I have already been contacting publishers and supporting the yaoi titles on kindle so you are a bit late with your "advice".

But anyway, thanks so m ...

New Feature: Category Recommendations
(44 posts, 2067 views) Posted: 1359d 3h, 2m ago by naikan in News
I'm same as the replier above: I read any type of genre/pairing based on the theme of the story (mystery, action, etc.), and I would hate it if recommendations were restricted based on the gender of the pairings. Applying genre filtering based on our original ...
