Shaping up to be a cute read

Characters are intricately woven. The female lead clearly has a mild case of OCD and its pros and cons become apparent through her interactions. I like the basketball club setting coz yes, it does show off hotties in the best light AND it makes for cute scenarios like club trips and sports festivals! Art is very nice, not too fluffy but shoujo-like all the same. Expressions are a little limited right now, and dialogues could use sprucing up, but the story's just getting off the ground here.

Story direction is very intriguing, I'm especially loving the secondary characters like the best friend Yuri chan and the hottie of the basketball club. This is one title to look out for!

PS Senpai scans is working hard on these scans! They're coming out with a chapter daily! Whoot!

Typical cheerful average girl who just has an average life, who, after a chance encounter with some goodlooking dude gets a crush and starts working as a manager for her crush's basketball team. She befriends them, and some dude in it gets a crush on her (second male lead) but ofc, he obviously won't get her, because he's 2nd male lead. They never win, lol.
Anyway, this manga is basically the same as 'Harumatsu Bokura' - another story about an average girl who joins a basketball team as a manager in order to romance some socially awkward goodlooking guy who's also blackhaired. It's also very long, I think there's also a 2nd male lead within the team who harbors an unrequired love for her, etc.
MC in Harumatsu Bokura was better, though, but eh, whatever.

viva secondary guy !!

i am still reading it so maybe my opinion will change but i don't get why the author makes the secondary guy of this love triangle more interesting... Don't get me wrong i love deep side characters in a manga, it makes the story more down to earth. BUT in a fiction there is a reason to reveal facts and bits about a character and it is so reader can have a understanding and sympathy towards them. İn this series we see second guy has a complicated personality, it would be fine if we also learn something about the main guy either but we know almost nothing about the main guy except he loves to eat, he is too out of place, there is nothing to like about, bad or good, he is not leaving any impression on me whatsoever... and don't need to say second guy have a better relationship with our girl and have a more influence on her too. Also it seems like in the manga he have more screen time than the main guy too, it makes me think even author loves second guy better... So i believe there is something wrong with the balance of the story... it leaves me with the question "why" main girl loves him? just because he saved her in station, i thought she had a enlightment about that incident... That's why forget about him and go for the second guy, i say!

This is just another, run-of-the-mill cookie-cutter school romance...

following the usual formula of a dumb girl with a crush and an annoyingly infuriating "bad boy" 3rd wheel who gets way too much screen time. If you're prone to flipping tables, you'd be advised to avoid this one like the plague.

Note: Please be reminded that this is only my opinion.

Without a doubt, Tsubasa to Hotaru is not the MOST amazing nor most memorable shoujo manga I've read. However, it's a light, cute read - and a quite refreshing one, too. The female lead is hard-working and is somewhat a 'stalker' and busybody. Now normally, I would hate her - but she is very energetic and surprisingly quite... 'understanding'. She doesn't force the relationship between the male lead and herself.

The male lead himself is quiet but kind. Cute <3.

At first I didn't really think much of the characters, but soon I realized that I began to CARE for them. I cared whether they win or lose. The characters are not the most memorable, but they're light and likeable.

Pacing is the greatest aspect of this story, I think. It flows naturally, nothing is forced, but it's not dragging. I think the pacing is suitable to one's real relationship.

Highly recommended if you 'd like a light, sweet read with no real drama.

Not a cheesy shoujo?

Okay, I'm not gonna lie, I started this purely for the art as I am a huge fan of Haruta Nana's art (stardust wink, love berrish, chocolate cosmos). I was a bit put off by the protagonist at first, purely due to the fact that she was first introduced as a stalker. I thought it was going to be a typical shoujo manga where the girl is hopelessly dense and clumsy and all that jazz, but I am pleasantly surprised to see how Tsubasa has developed over the course of the series! Unlike the typical Strong Female Lead character (who are usually my favorite type of female leads), Tsubasa is strong in the sense that she's extremely strong-willed and compassionate? She's cute and passionate, and isn't afraid to express her feelings while doing it in a polite/not annoying way.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It was really refreshing to see that the confession was not dragged out like they usually are in shoujo manga. It's really interesting and cute to see Tsubasa and Akki's relationship develop throughout the series (and also from the point that she confessed to him)
The only thing that kept this title from getting full ratings is the love triangle attribute. While I'm not a fan of love triangles, I do think this one was done well. My only problem with it is the personality changes in the other love interest. It's always sad to see authors sacrifice one good character's development in favor of furthering another. Do not worry, it's very subtle, although it is there. Overall, I really adore this manga. The characters are interesting and the art is nice. The pacing is pretty good and doesn't seem to drag on like similar titles (i.e. Last Game although it is one of my favorite). The main leads are by far some of my favorites in this genre. It also helps that Akki is very reminiscent of Mamura from Hirunaka no Ryuusei (bae #1 biggrin) in terms of characterization (isssh don't quote me on this)!

I dropped after she confessed but ML still was being indecisive.

What would you do if a person confessed you should atleast tell them your answer not keep them hanging for like 15+ chapters and still be indecisive as hell.

After that story had to real substance it was dragging on with his dense and cringe indecisiveness it got quite angsty in the afternoon chapter 11 to read.

Also ML looked quite trashy and pretty ugly to be sure. The 2nd guy was better choice in every way.

Surprisingly REALLY Good

I love this manga! The heroine is actually one of my recent favorites--I'd compare her in personality (at least a bit) to people like Tohru from Fruits Basket, Ririko from ReRe Hello, and/or Kanade from Mekakushi no Kuni. In other words, she's genuine, always assumes the best, never puts others down (ever!!!!!!), avoids drama by always being kind and pure, and has incredibly honest intentions. I really admire her, and love that she's the MC.

Buuuut... even though I like the main male protagonist, I honestly like secondary male character the best. If you read it, you'll see why. :3

I've now read hundreds and hundreds of shoujo in my life, and while I'm not a super-harsh critic, it does take something special for me to really enjoy and cherish it. For those reasons, and because I was surprised at how much I loved this manga, I really, highly recommend giving it a read. <3
