The story involves Inouse Shinnosuke, a poor masterless samurai who passes an exam and earns the privilege to bodyguard the legendary Mito Komon, a retired daimyo, as he makes his iconic pilgrimage across the country.

The series is essentially a parody of the decades-long evening drama Mito Komon, whose base plot is similar up to the bodyguards, minus Inouse, the exam and the plethora of sex jokes. As opposed to the traditional, respectable portrayal of the daimyo, this version of Mito Komon displays him as rude, vulgar, childish and downright perverted.

Half-action and half-comedy, the story has taken some interesting routes, such as a storyline involving Inouse meeting the man who murdered his father. I highly recommend this manga!
