Let's talk about consistency...

I'd recommend this, but it isn't perfect and it has a lot of unfulfilled potential.

The art is nice to look at, but for all the detail it has, very little is added to the experience. I'd almost say that it's the opposite of One Punch-Man (ONE) which is not super pretty but often works with the writing to actively portray parts of the story.

The biggest problem I have with this is the consistency of various aspects of it.

very vague spoiler:

The magic, as well as numerous characters in this, are very inconsistent; it's like the first half and second half were written by two different people.

Major spoilers, don't read them unless you've nearly completed it:

Early in this book it makes you think that magic doesn't exist, that it's all smoke and mirrors, which I thought was pretty cool, but then later on it completely turns around and makes Oldman a sorcerer, which I didn't like at all. One of the best parts of this for me was trying to figure out how the Queen became young again and why she was keeping Oldman prisoner, the trick behind it that is; that's why it was super disappointing when it turned out that it actually was just magic. I also don't like that Oldman goes from using tricks to solve problems to using straight-up sorcery, if he had those powers then he easily could've used them earlier and saved himself some trouble.

I also don't like how the ending used Owen. Throughout the story he seemed like he'd grown into a decent guy who was trying to survive in a complex environment and figure out what happened to his foster brother, but in the end he's just portrayed as some stereotypical villain and for what, a little bit of youth? He's like 20-something and going to be a king; come-on, why would he do that for like 10 years, does he want to go through puberty again or something? Such a lame way to deal with a potentially interesting character.

The woman with the prosthetics and the Queen were also inconsistent but I don't feel like typing any more.

The art

Is incredibly well drawn until its hyper-realism makes you wonder if Oldman and the queen were almost photo manipulations of Sean Connery and Cate Blanchett. Especially that cover of chapter one..instantly made me think so. It's just something I noticed, though.

The art reminds me of Green Blood. The dialogue is cool, like only seinen can give. The first chapter made me decide to follow the series after just a few pages. Has that feel to it that signifies great things are to follow.

On chapter 1, SO MUCH POTENTIAL

Just read chapter one, and its amazing. There's not much I can say about the story since its just the pilot chapter, but I feel like the author can go MILES with this manga. The current setup is brilliant.

I love the art. It's very dark and gritty, reminds me of Berserk and/or Wolf guy Wolfen Crest. 10/10.

Interesting, but weak plot

Well the others pretty much tell all, amazing art-style and flow from panel to panel but the plot is very shallow, I get the feeling the author had to rush the ending and couldn't get into it which is unfortunately not uncommon.
Still an interesting read

Wasted potential

Starts out promising, but gets stupid really fast, though. Artist also suffers from a bad case of same face, including having every female character make the exact same wide-eyed gaping-mouth expression as often as possible for no real reason.

Using stock photos from deviantart? That aside pretty boring. The storytelling is not on par with the art. Got potential though. Maybe this artist should find an actual writer and just focus on drawing.

Terrible

The only merits this story has are its art and the fact that the series is short. The hyper realist images that are thrown in in some parts are ok (although the eye size is disturbing), but the story's setting lacks any coherence and the plot is too shallow, with the main story nodes being extremely predictible.

Even as a time travel enthusiast it leaves me with a bad aftertaste. They could've easily fit the story in 10 chapters and stuck with a time period ,but no they somehow thought it was better putting: locomotives heavy plated armour for light infantry (and almost every soldier archers included), two household hammers used as war hammers, gunpowder as a reliable source of energy ... and lots of random stuff they thought was cool to add more chapters
