Bad, even for generic fantasy harems.
by Krazyguy75
February 12th, 2019, 7:25am
Rating: 2.0  / 10.0
It takes 0 risks, to the point of being boring. In no way is this Seinen. I dropped this after the MC literally said "I don't want to have sex until we return to my world".

The characters are cardboard cutouts. You have an MC who is the chosen hero, invincible in combat despite never being trained, who wins every fight save 1, never suffers more than bruises, and passes out after every fight from magic exhaustion, who won't sleep with girls unless the "timing is right", even if they offer to have sex with him. Even if they offer to have sex with him... 4 times. You have the childhood friend who goes from "I don't want our relationship to get in the way of our friendship" to "I don't want you to pay attention to other girls". You have the timid girl, who has no traits other than timidity. You have the flirtatious feisty girl. She got a whole two traits to her! I dropped after the third heroine. All other side characters were generic and frankly unimportant, both to the plot and the dialogue. 3/10 characters; I don't hate them, but I genuinely don't care about or relate to them at all.

On to the plot: Bad. Generic fantasy transmigration, but with no worldbuilding. Evil is attacking. Why? Because it's evil. How do you beat the evil? Only the hero can do it, and he has to rescue the princesses to do so. How does the hero beat the evil? He... slashes it. Occasionally after having his sword repelled the first time. Do characters die? Ha, what a joke. No, one character died in the whole time I was reading this, and it was an evil noble who we had been introduced to in literally that chapter. Even the intelligent, non-monster evil enemies all live, and it turns out they weren't evil, just mind controlled. Every location is generic. We go from a generic castle to a generic forest to a generic elven city to a generic arabian city. Technically the last one on that list is supposed to move, but that had practically no relevance to the plot or setting. There are no discussed repercussions to actions. The MC abandons the castle, with no thought given to anyone there. He breaks down the elven wind shield, with no thought to how they defend themselves now. There is no transition time; you leave one place, and you get to the next almost immediately. 2/10 plot.

And now for the ecchi, one of the main selling points! It feels like every chapter has about 25-50% of it devoted to ecchi. That said... we're talking the crappy filler episode kind of ecchi, where nothing is shown, no one does anything, and the raciest we get is people sleeping together naked with no action. And I mean "no action". The MC doesn't even touch the girls, they just cling to him naked and he acts like the block of wood that he is. It's terrible. 1/10 ecchi.

Art. Could be worse. I mean, it's fairly well drawn. I'll give it a 5/10 for being consistent, but it can't get higher because of how utterly crap fights were; you rarely see swords collide, let alone any actual martial arts.

Enjoyment: God this is generic to a fault. That said, if you are every really bored and want to read a generic harem... don't read this. A bored person reading this might die of boredom. Go back and reread some other shounen ecchi harem. I guarantee you'll get more enjoyment out of rereading something you already know; the plot was so generic that I felt like I was rereading this even though I'd never even heard of it before. 1/10.

Overall: 2/10. Takes no risks, and sucks for it. Even on the scale of generic shounen novels this is boring. I normally rate on the high end of the spectrum (6/10 is usually the limit for "doing nothing wrong"\), but this is so risk-free that, despite doing nothing wrong, I actively ended up dropping it with more of a feeling of dislike than I feel for genuinely bad mangas. This is probably one of my two lowest ratings of all time. I only wasted 3 hours of time reading it, and I still want a refund on the time I spent on it. I'd rather read something crappy than something so generic that it couldn't be crappy if it tried.

Its annoying...

The current reviews. There has barely been a few chapters out, at the time of this writing 5, and two reviews have said its rushed and generic.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
In the first chapter, it is established that he loves her and she possibly towards him and then they are off into a fantasy realm. Some may say that is rushed but there are a lot of stories out there that takes several chapters, even a volume or more to build up a "Do we love each other?" relationship. This manga though, says they do on the first chapter and the real story, the story in the fantasy realm, is where things start. The second chapter shows glimpse of them liking each other while the story rolls onward. Third chapter is mainly story. Fourth chapter deals with both their bond and story.
I honestly don't understand the complaint about rushing. There are a lot of manga out there that drags through the story and some ends abruptly or rushed due to publication or the author not being able to plan or work the ending. Since I'm mostly writing this review because I'm irritated at the negative reviews, I will just bash their opinion.
"Unsympathetic" main characters- Um. Compared to many other male protagonists in manga (depending on genre), Satou is not similar in the sense that he does not spend volumes whining and being afraid at his incompetence. There are dozens of weak-willed male mc that eventually grow up and become...cool. But for every one that does so, there are a lot more that simply pisses you off from their incompetence. Mainly in manga that has multiple love interests. Satou's thoughts are seen throughout along with his actions. He doesn't take up a whole page worrying about things and at most a panel or two. He loves Nokana and will fight for her. He doesn't know the strange world he's in well or what will happen but he's doing what he can to be with Nokana.
Noakana Hime on the other hand, not a lot can be said about her since the action parts are about Satou so far. But by chapter 4, you can tell that she loves Satou.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
For ten years, she hide on Earth (I assume) for her life and her true friend is Satou. Even though she comes to love him, she knows she can not stay because of circumstances so she kept it at friendship and wanted to keep him safe on Earth. But Satou came after her and now they're married. She gets to be with the one she thought was out of her reach. A barrier she built up for ten years dissipates. But she also knows the trouble he will have to face as the ring king along with him having a harem. So there will be love, comedy, and painful moments.
I do hope she gets a bit more active role but its a seinen so Satou is the figher.

"Shounen protagonist"- No, of course a high-schooler isn't a boy. u_u Shounen refers to boys elementary-high school and seinen is high-school and upwards. What really separates the two, in terms of manga, comes down to level of maturity and consistency of their themes. A quick search of solely shounen or seinen shows up more tragedy or horror subgenre for seinen than shounen. But there are horror shounen and non-tragedy/horror seinen. I digress.
This manga will NOT be like a top-tier seinen like beserk, vinland saga, kingdom, orange, etc.
But there will be mature themes and concepts.

Character that seeks "innocence/shoujo/pure" romance- Are we reading the same manga? No, probably not as nowhere does Satou nor Noakana seem to be in an illusion about their predicament. Satou may not know his surroundings well but he knows that he's there for Noakana. Noakana didn't think it was possible. They're together now and trying to work it out as the disaster is befalling the world. They're in a fantasy world... its unrealistic in that sense. Romance is anything goes. But seriously, what on earth does that have to do with coward?

tl;dr- Its barely out as of this writing, they love each other and have to deal with a global disaster in a fantasy realm. Splendid drawings and comedy with high expectations for story and if you're still unsure, read Tasogare Otome x Amnesia, Maybe's previous non-H and fully translated work.

Good intro but quickly turns dull.

The premise starts out with something not normally seen in isekais, and the art style is really nice but...
A very boring story is all that follows along with poorly written characters that seem to exist just to fill a harem.

Lower your expectations.

This series is just a huge cuck tease. If you're expecting development with all the girls beyond some ecchi scenes you're going to be disappointed. Even worse is the Hime the first girl, who's overly possessive of the MC, making it frustrating to see him get development with the other girls. Then there's the promise he made with her about doing her not until they go back to Earth despite the fact she openly told him that she gladly take him (sex) anytime yet still backed out. There was no excuse for that especially when the whole premise of the series being is how close he is with he's wives making the ring stronger. But with the constant of him being only into Hime and her being overly possessive, it kills anything going with the other wives.

This series has the titillation of Dusk Maiden of Amnesia but none of the heart. Action scenes aren't impressive, the comedy is weak, nothing much really going on. Best to check out the series for the sensual art of the females but not to expect much else.

Excellent art, tasteful fanservice, pleasant though rather flat characters, pretty good comedy, average plot, semi-successful attempts to do something interesting with fantasy tropes. Not a masterpiece by any means, but a fun read nonetheless

Standard Adventure / Titillation Manga
by cecropiamoth
June 23rd, 2018, 2:31pm
Rating: N/A
The standard part is just that. Monsters threaten; hero manages unlikely survival. The sexy part, beautifully rendered by this mangaka's great drawing ability, is crippled by the standard limitation: the guy won't have sex with his willing bride. This kind of endless approach to, without ever reaching, sexual action is called titillation, and is standard operating procedure in any publication regime that is routinely censored or self-censored.

I know that in Japan manga that depict sex or perhaps even merely indicates that it has been had are subject to having to be displayed only in the "over 18" section of the book/magazine stores, thus ruining sales to the teenage contingent. Either that rule, of a habit of self-censorship in the mass-circulation manga business in general, assures that whenever sex is in the offing, what we'll get is repeated approach to it...and then no go.

The male main character is enacting that here, as usual.

It gets tiresome! If no-one in manga stories is going to get to consummate anything, why raise expectations? Get use to it though. It's a standard feature of shonen manga, and apparently often of seinen manga as well.

Okay so Far

Well like People keep saying, the art of this manga is really good as expected from "Maybe" the artist; i read another series of his thats why i know. Anyway that is also why i gave this a chance and while im not really disappointed im not really that impressed either. So far things are okay story wise, i just think it should pick up a little more. Also i want to see more action cause it keeps getting interrupted by something which is annoying. I like fantasy manga alot and while this goes into a lot of the generic harem stuff, im still willing to give it a chance cause of the art and the author. Also character wise the MC is okay ( i have one minor issue with him i will explain below) and the first and second princesses are pretty likable; im glad we dont have any tsunderes in the horizon lol. The first princess has minor tsundere momenes but i wouldnt count her as one. So yea besides what i said i really only have one annoyance in this series or more of the MC which is
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The MC being a coward at times and not in the way you think. I mean so far i like his personality but im getting tired of him pushing away a great situation or opportunity. What i mean to say ,and to but it bluntly, is that the girl he liked for years became his wife in this other world, so yea awesome right. She clearly loves him and she even offered to "sleep" with him 3 times so far man....THREE TIMES..... and this guy just keeps brushing it off like "its not the right moment right now." I mean come on i really hate when male manga MCs dont really act like dudes. I mean im not saying he just sleep with everything but its the chick he loves and she obviously wants it but hes being a coward. Thats why i like MCs like the one from the "Re:monster" manga who go with the flow more and takes whats given if you know what i mean lol. And No i dont want a hentai scene but i just want this not to be a gigantic "teasing between the two" situation for the whole manga. Plus hes already building a harem and the second princess is likable too and shown shes interested in that part too but looking at his attitude, i dont think we'll get the harem end, which i want lol. i got tired of likable harem girls losing (sometimes way more likable then the lead girl) so i route for only the harem ending now

Anyway this is not a big issue for me, just a minor annoyance but yea so far ill keep reading this

The Lord of the Wedding Rings
by Padawan

If the Japanese made The Lord of The Rings, it would be this.
Ragtag group journeying around a fantasy world searching for powerful rings while being chased by dark evil beings. They even have a Gandalf, and a 'rogue' Prince. The elves here are treated better for once, similar to LOTR elves (powerful, proud, magically gifted, immortal, isolationists).

However, despite its interesting parts, personally I think its a bit too much of a male fantasy for me. Also, although it didn't feel it was too easy for him to win the second princess it was a bit simple for me - need more 'ooomph!'.

I'm not sure where all the hate for this came from in previous posts but this has been a very enjoyable read so far. The childhood friend/secret crush has to move far away. The male protagonist jumped into the unknown to be with and declare his love for his childhood friend. That's a hell of a better reason than most of the lost in a fantasy world stories out there now. He ain't the brightest MC out there but at least he has guts.

There really isn't anything bad about the pacing. The releases take time but that's a pretty common problem. Read consecutively, the flow is quite natural.

The art is good, especially the fanservice. All the women are shapely and well developed. No lolis so far. One minor knock on the art is that the combat was kind of meh due to rather bland monster designs (too much black/not enough detail).

The writer is actually best when focusing on humor. Expect a lot of innuendo/misunderstandings as the MC meets women. Elves are also pretty fun in this story... bigrazz

edit: Hmm. Latest chapter (10) felt very rushed. Perhaps this is where the critical reviews came from. Gonna dock the series a point for now.

The Art is fucking delicious. Surprise at Chapter 3/4 biggrin

I don't hate the story. Hopefully, it improves a bit. Was expecting more angst and drama, but it's actually pretty light.
