Good, but I have a hangup

The art is cute, the cast of characters is really great, and I appreciated that the main character especially really made an effort to grow over the course of this manga. She reminded me a little of Sawako from Kimi ni Todoke (only with less hurdles to overcome). The basketball aspect was also really fun, and I was invested in the team's wellbeing the whole way through. It's typical shoujo, nothing new or exciting, but comfortable and well-done. This was on my reading list for a long time, but the updates were kind of slow for a while so I ended up putting it on hold when it was about halfway done because I kept forgetting what was happening in between releases. However, when I did finally pick it back up again after it completed, I read it in two sittings and have no regrets 🙂

I will say, though, that the main takeaway for me personally is that this manga really suffered from second-lead syndrome. Not that it wasn't clear who the main character was going to end up with (that was obvious from the beginning, like with most shoujo), or even that the main character and the main love interest weren't cute together or a good fit. The rival character was just shown to have such a close and important relationship with the MC, something that she herself says on multiple occasions can't be replaced.

...And, frankly, when even the secondary characters who are supposed to be on the male lead's side keep saying, "Wow, that other guy is a strong rival!', it kinda makes you think she's supposed to be with the other guy. There's literally a scene at one point where the main character is asking a neutral party which boy she should date, and the neutral party basically is like 'I'm rooting for the rival, honestly I feel you'll never have another chance at a relationship like the one you'd have with him ever again in your whole life'. Like...what do you do with that😕 Like, yes, thank you author, I do think the rival is a better pick for MC now. Why was this what you wanted from me??

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Ultimately, the reason we're given is for the final pairing is 'Towa inspired Mitsuki to grow and change into a better person, while Aya wanted her to stay the same'. ...Which wasn't correct, as least from the story? Because Aya is literally the reason Mitsuki wanted to change herself in the first place. Towa certainly did the same thing later as well, but that doesn't mean Aya didn't do it. And, while Aya certainly loved Mitsuki before she made an effort to change and better herself, he gives no indication that he likes Mitsuki any less because she's decided to try to be more outgoing. I wish we'd left it at 'Mitsuki can't help the way she feels, she just likes Towa more', or maybe made it clear that her feelings for Aya were more familial in nature. And, more than anything, give Aya some hope of moving on!! Because as they left it, he's just looking at pining over Mitsuki forever. Which is depressing, and he deserves better.

I really enjoyed myself reading this, and I'll certainly read any new materials, spin-offs, or extras that come out! ...But I probably won't be re-reading this from the beginning again, just because it still hurts a little with how things turned out.

I enjoyed the love and tension between the two main love interests but this is a pretty standard read. Nothing surprising or interesting and definitely not sexy. It’s a simple and calm story.

A very realistic, heart-warming shoujo!

How refreshing it is to find a shoujo full of level-headed characters, nice and clean art and good story!

I think the main strength of this shoujo that keeps me reading is the realistic interactions of the characters! They are very relatable and each one has their own personality. The protagonist does not blush to every occasion although she's very perceptive of other people too. She can be a nice role model for highschool girls.

Also, I like that the story do not unnecessarily add angst and too much conflicts in the story since most characters are realistic, they mostly resolve misunderstandings by actually having the talk. Refreshing!

This is definitely a light-hearted read. It's amusing and I appreciate how the characters mostly seem to act and react like normal human beings, rather than over-the-top shojo archetypes. There's not a whole lot going on with the plot aside from romance and basketball, but it doesn't feel tired or anything like that. I think what draws me in most though are the two main male love interests...I really like them both! Also, the art is pretty and clean which is nice.

Overall, this is a simple story, nothing ground-breaking, but there's something about it that keeps me coming back. It's a light read but an enjoyable one nonetheless.

the story is paced nicely (there's not a chapter where i feel bored reading) and the characters are great. it's not full of drama, but conflicts are there and don't frustrate you. so far, it's not repetitive. though slow, the story is developing. it's really a nice, heart-warming manga! recommended read, especially for times after reading nasty stuff.

the story is really easy to read, it's not really dramatic.

The guys are nice and this is not a harem, and i hope it stays that way because i really like the guys. They are nice and friendly (they are not womanizer or rude or stupid!).

And the girl oh she is ADORABLE in a good way.

Like the story, give it a try! <3 it's a type of manga you don't read too often because it doesn't have the same cliche things as the others!

I started this one randomly because the cover art seemed like a nice art style. I found the story entertaining enough and it's cuteness brought a smile to my face. The characters are mainly likeable. The friends are nice people and so far it doesn't look like they'll be a part of some unrealistic reverse harem or turn on each other, the male MC, Towa, is even more likeable, he's quite oblivious to romance but he takes people seriously and can be quite bold in expressing possessiveness, he isn't a wimp and takes steps forward in a refreshing way. Mitsuki is quite an adorable female character most of the time...she overreacts and her actions are often exaggerated however, which makes things unrealistic. Overall, great art, likeable characters, decent plot so far and I'm 15 chapters in.

The MC is awesome. Not in the bad-ass, kick-ass or whatever way, but in a realistic way. You can connect with her and her reactions to everything seems natural. She has some cuts, isn't completely air-headed but isn't overbearing. She's just a normal girl, but that's what makes her so fun to read about. Do not get me wrong, she's no Bella where you just put your face instead of yours. She has a personality, just not the type that only has one personality trait that you often see.

What really makes this manga seem so good after 5 chapters is the world building. It has a pretty big cast of characters so far and it gives the manga a feeling of depth since the mangaka slowly gives develops the characters. It feels like everyone will be given a rounder character as time goes.

Verdict: Refreshing read with a MC you can relate too. Some "aww"s and a bit fluff, but it's not just about the guy. Also, don't expect a harem.

very cool.... without unnecessarily iconoclastic characters

I enjoy this title more for the fact that while characters actually behave like sensible human beings rather than shoujo stereotypes (or reverse stereotypes just for novelty sake). The girl MC doesn't blush at the drop of a hat, but she is shy and self conscious now and then. She reasons things as they are and not always to paint the male MC's in an angelic light and the various dudes are pretty OK too... once you give them a chapter or two to establish their all round niceness. (They start off as horrendous conceits though so let it simmer ^_^)

Storyline has fun side characters and an interesting premise... Nothing particularly groundbreaking happening here, just high school life progressing alone, but its got its fun and touching and heartwarming moments. Romance is taking a back seat to humor, at least till the first 3 chapters.
