Revolutionary Shoujo Manga

...only 'cause i've never seen a shoujo manga deal with friendships to this extend, and at such a relevant age. I like that it focused on friendship rather than romance (ofc romance was also there).
It's important to teach kids what a healthy friendship is. The fact that the manga dealt with this in length was surprising but amazing nonetheless.

Badly Written

How do I say it, the antagonist Yuyu was so manipulative she reminds me to my old 'friends' who used to bully me in similar fashion. However personally the protagonist Nana was more annoying than her. I felt like the mangaka was trying her best to write a righteous justice warrior with sad past but it didn't came out nicely. Her character and the story line is unnatural at all. Even the romance part was... Uh no chemistry?

The only good thing is the drawing style.

If you want a real bullying-frienship manga (that I personally relate) I recommend Life by Suenaga Keiko. It's more realistic.

Its great! But frustrating ^^;

So the main protagonist Nana is really great! She changes herself and tries to rid herself of her past with Yuyu. I love the concept of that!

HOWEVER though the story is great, the character Yuyu is so fckn annoying! She is literally one of the most obsessive characters Ive seen in a while.(however I wouldn?t really call her a yandere, since she feels no romantic attraction to Nana, only friendship)

She literally does everything she can to be the only friend to Nana, even if it means driving her classmates away from Nana. She purposefully bullies Nana, and tries to manipulate her into becoming friends again! Just what kind of psychopath would do that? Apparently Yuyu!

And just when you think shes gone, BOOM! She comes back into the story with a new hairstyle and all! I mean for gods sake! Yuyu, just leave the poor girl alone! Yuyu was a reeally annoying character. She would just not go away!

However that isnt a bad thing, this just shows how good the mangaka was able to portray her character, and it takes a level of skill to actually make you flip a table every time you see her on the page.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
However I still cant fckn believe they made up in the end. Thats just bull.

Anyway, although it frustrated me a lot, I really enjoyed the series. There was a lot of dramatic and tense moments, and some were just heartwarming and made you happy. The art is really good(if you like the typical shoujo style of course) and it was a good read.

I recommend to anyone, however you should be warned your sanity is not guranteed when you leave.

as a story about real friendship and sympathy, it is the best one ever

My first impression, the art is cute, as shoujo typical cute. But as I progress, I realized, that the art, the story, the characters, the emotion, the moral value, are not just cute, they are mindblowing. "Don't judge a book by its cover" is maybe created for this manga.

Many people got irritated reading as the story progress, some drop it out of frustration, and some, even still frustrated, like a curse, can't help but to keep reading. Why? Because it is irritatingly addictive. The flow and pace is good, making us always curious what the hell will be happen at the next chapter.

There is always problem in each chapter, but Nana, though weak at the start (typical Shoujo MC), keep growing strong through all the problems, making us pride of her. Her character growth is real. Yuyu, the antagonist, the source of all problems, is the best antagonist ever. She successfully make so many readers flipping table in their heart and hating her to dead. She is wickedly genius, that we can't help to respect her for that. As the story progress, more reader understand her reason and even come to like her. Shioka, might not the kindest lead male ever, but he is one of the rightest lead male ever. He understands Nana well. Because of his words, Nana can be strong by herself. He even understands that Yuyu too, as he is the only character that Yuyu can't manipulate.

The romance moments are rare, but that's what make they are so precious, "kyuuuunning" our heart tightly. The girls friendship and sympathy value of this manga amaze me, they are deep. Moreover, the author choose to not put that deepness into words. We can't simply read it, readers have to really thinking to understand that deepness, having us, understand what is the real friendship and sympathy, their forms, and what lies beyond that. As it claims by itself, it really is no. 1 friendship story.

For me, it is really the best shoujo ongoing, and in Japan too, it is the most popular title in Ribon Magazine since its debut for 3 years straight (2014-2016)

I read some chapters of Nanairo Kakumei and the begining is really cute, and you get yourself caught in the story, you see yourself cheering for Nana to change and think for herself, but...After some time it's really irritating. Her friend Yuyu is really manipulative, and I just can't stand her. Nana is a kid, I know it, but this relationship she has with Yuyu is not friendship, friends don't act like that. Nana should find other friends,or change school. Because or Yuyu is a crazy social psycho, or she hates Nana and likes to bully her.
