I have not read the original work, and apparently the artist had to tell the story in 12 chapters. I will rate and review it (as short as the review will be) with that in mind.
Art is great and the story flows relatively well, but there are some "jumps" that were made without accompanying explanations. Characterization, beside the MC, is mostly non-existant and relies on short explanations of prior events to depict the characters motives/faults. As such, it may feel offpaced and lacking if viewed in a vacuum of it's own being.
However, since the story here (at least in the adaption) is mostly around the MC, I will give it an 8 for "eigh"ffort, as his struggles, musings and at the end of the day deliberations about his own humanity were depicted fairly well.
If I had read the original work, I might've said that the story here was butchered, but without prior knowledge of it, I can only say that now I have an inkling to check it out. As far as short adaptions go, that's a plus in my book and besides, this title holds itself fairly well regardless.
