Crap Series with Good One-Shot Extras

I read this through to the end, because I like Kanan Minami's work and because I tend to finish most series I start. There's very few that I stop reading, but this one... Wow.
I like shoujo - even the trashy melodramatic smutty stuff. I like Kanan Minami's work, so you know I knew what I was signing up for. So this isn't coming from someone with a bias against shoujo or someone who can't enjoy a good old smutfest.
But this... is something else entirely. This is 8 volumes of sex, with some really transparent plot devices thrown in at times to break up the monotony. And it IS monotonous. It feels like the same sex scene over and over and over... and over... and over... again. If you never thought sex could be boring, it's because you haven't read this manga yet.
In addition to this, there's no real plot. The eight volumes consist of the main couple having sex and having obstacles thrown in their way. Unfortunately, these obstacles are as varied and exciting as the sex scenes are - that is to say, they're the SAME plot twists/obstacles thrown in over and over and over... and over... and over... again.
All of that said, the plot obstacle that keeps being presented is really bad. Now, I admit that I like the occasional rape plot. If it's done well, it can be an interesting part of a story. This, however, is just a girl who gets sexually assaulted in some way by every single man who crosses her path. And I mean every. single. one. So you add THAT to the formula above and... Yeah. It's THAT bad, people.
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, to be honest. Even fans of Kanan Minami's work should steer clear. If you're a completist like me, who likes to read all of a mangaka's work, then I suppose it can't be helped... but at least go into it knowing what to expect.
Now, the one-shot side stories are a different subject. There's some good stuff in those. "Virgin Beast" is a cute story with a lot of humor in the first couple pages (that declaration in the school hallway is classic). "Scarred Innocence" is a darker story that keeps you guessing and manages to be charming, despite the darkness running under the surface. "Rescued Letter, Complicated Love" isn't the best, but it's worth a quick read. The male lead wears on your patience pretty quickly, but he kind of grows on you at the same time. "Ribbon" is a really cute little story about childhood friends who reunite with more than friendship brewing.
Bottom Line: Download it for the one-shots. Forget the rest.

I'd just like to say that I don't believe that SMUT = DUMBASSES. People keep saying "It's smut...so this, this, and this. So you should know better." But this particular manga is not inclusive of the entire genre. Sorry, but it's just not. Because I've read plenty of smut in both English and mainly Japanese that doesn't consist of rape, a dumb heroine (Seri's not that bright...), and has traces of an actual plot. "Traces" being the operative word here...
Much like jptranslator_girl said, summaries can be misleading. And plenty of smut series' start off one way, then goes off into a completely different direction less than halfway through . Some suck and some don't. Not all smut is the same.
I'm not downing the people who liked this manga, because your taste is your own and you have your reasons for liking what you like. Honestly, I really would recommend giving this series a try. You might like it, but then again you might not. I love reading smut, and obviously sex doesn't bother me, but I didn't like this at all; for various reasons....which have all been stated by various users.
This series is chalk full of non-consensual sex between the "heroine" and some random guy, and then make up sex between the "heroine" and her actual boyfriend almost immediately afterwards. It's pretty silly, redundant, and repetitive. So many people had their hands on this chick that it was just ridiculous.
P.S. This probably isn't even worth mentioning, but I've only seen this much rape and/or attempted rape in hentai. Scary, I know.
My true rating would be a 0 / 10.0, if possible.

When I started reading this manga it said on the description "SMUT". Yeah, with capital letters. So I knew what it was gonna be about: a girl - usually not of the inteligent kind - being harrased and eventually raped by (more than) a guy. And that's what it was. And I enjoyed it... but because I already knew what I was getting into.
I can understand how people can get annoyed by the non - existant plot or the silly actions the main character takes, but most manga readers by now should already know this manga genre (smut - that is) and either accept it or not read it.
I would recommend this manga to people who just want to read something (very) light and smutty. The art is nice and even though it gets repetitive by the end you still can follow the story and finish reading all the volumes.

First of all, this is a smut manga, not hentai (completely different genre....trust me)...but it might as well be considered hentai :/. Secondly, I don't think that the sex bothered too many people who chose to read this story in the beginning, because most of us are pretty familiar with smut already ^^.
Yes, women who know how to defend themselves can still be raped. I will not dispute that at all (or the fact that this manga artist has a bit of a thing for forced sex anyway), but the thing that bothers me is that putting 'karate girl' in the summary is very misleading and seriously annoying. The martial arts are not simply about physical strength (or being a supposed tomboy), but striving to achieve physical and mental harmony. Calling her 'karate girl' makes it seem as though this girl is quirky, strong (in both senses of the word), and a bit assertive....but she isn't--not by a long shot. She's just silly and doesn't think things through 95% the time. I can understand the fact that she's just a teenager and still learning the ropes of life, but seriously....it was very illogical for Seri to BE illogical almost all the time. She's old enough to know better, people. So, long story short, if putting "karate" in the summary was just meant to catch the reader's eye....then it needs to be taken out. That's actually as far from the truth as things can possibly be :/
Also, I highly doubt that anyone is taking this manga seriously. They're more than likely just venting their frustration about the things that they didn't like about the series. I just don't get why it is that when someone(s) expresses their distaste for a manga that they're instantly accused of "taking things too seriously." That's usually not the case at all. If you like it, you like it. If you don't, you don't. Nothing wrong with that.
I have no problems with weak characters, but I have a big problem with foolish ones who put themselves in a constant state of affliction when it isn't even called for; and Seri did just that...time after time after time after time. I've read tons of smut manga that have pulled off emotion, drama, and mature romance without being as silly as this stuff (seriously). Quite frankly, I found this series and all of its characters completely and utterly ridiculous.
That's just my opinion though. To each his own.

I Don't Get Why People HATE This Manga

1. Don't read it if you don't like the summary- it says clearly that there is lots of sex. "Oh, it had too much sex." What did you expect from smut?!
2. Manga is for entertainment, not literature. "It wasn't realistic at all!" DUDE. It's fiction! It's not like it had a theme to make people aware of rape and protection-- it's a thought-up plot line.
3. Plot line. The idea of karate catches someone's eyes, but the real moral in the story is about being in true love; you only like sex from the one you love. Obviously, only someone who has experienced simple sex and love sex would understand that, so that is why the mangaka portrayed a girl experiencing all the sex. It'd be ridiculous to have a girl "in love" if she'd only experienced it with one guy-- you have to see what's there to offer to determine whether or not you like what you have!
4. Romance. Manga about cute puppy love only happen to naive pre-teens or in fiction. Yes, this manga is indeed fiction and chances of these events happening to someone are very low. However, the EMOTIONS expressed are much more similar to girls in real life.
5. Rape. Just because she knows karate, that doesn't mean she can get rapists off of her. SHE'S A GIRL. It'd be more weird if it were some shrimpy dude without muscles trying to rape her. What's more important than the fact that she couldn't physically push them off was the fact that her body became aroused. That was the whole point of it.
So all in all, you don't determine how good a manga is based on the events, rather the REASON the mangaka chose those events. What also bugs me, in some cases, is when people say that you'll only enjoy it if you like sex. That is hentai. I respect people who don't see the art in smut manga, and I respect those who do.
I rate this manga a 7/10. I DO NOT recommend for people who want simple, cute stories with lots of comedy. Neither do I recommend it for people who only like more violent, intense, tragedy or drama manga. I recommend it for people who are in between. The people who like things more real but not as intense.

come on! too much drama, and rape for a highschooler!
yeah teenagers got their romance problems, like the b*tch standin' next to me lookin' more nice, the weigh of the girl...
Even rape, but the kind of rape you'll get if you drink too much or if a bartender gives you something in your drink.
I'm sick of readin' this kind of mangas were the girls are all goin' for sex, are they sex addict or something! if it was 'bout rape.
the romance wasn't cute and too dramatic. the mangaka should go to a club at night, or have a party just to watch how teenagers are!
