Honestly, the comment below that Reika sucks is kinda unjustified if you read the whole series. Kaburagi's status is higher than her, and since she would be humiliated by him in the original story, she was worried that it would happen to her if she defied him, and also because of his overbearing attitude. However, in the later chapters, when she understands them much better, she openly criticises him whenever he's in the wrong and he acknowledges her as a good friend.
Anyways, the story is teasing us with subtle hints of romance, and even up till chapter 299 there is no absolute love interest. However, I actually prefer it this way as the romance isn't forced and we really get to know the characters and enjoy their interactions. Reika is honestly lovable and I'm surprised I like her this much, she's very human and funny at the same time. I know this won't happen as the author is quite realistic but I wished it would have a Kaburagi Enjou Reika funny love triangle because it would definitely be entertaining and a punch to Kaburagi's ego because he used to be so rude to her.

Well we had english trans till chapter 229 and I went to read briefly the rest till chap 299 but still no romance at all for our MC Reika 😂 Despite the fact that I like how the story went slowly from their primary till high school daily life, I felt kind of bored. However seems like this is already drop.
And in chap 299 at least there 1 tiny little hint of romance
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
She will go to see the firework with Enjou and Yukino(Enjou's little bro) as Yukino wished for that. I amnot patient enough to go back and read carefully what happened to Enjou's engagement candidate girl so let it be that if this series continue, she may end with Enjou, Emperor best friend.

a very comedic slice-of-life story with a slightly odd (but also lovable) MC and lots and lots of food. the story progresses from primary school and is now into the 2nd year of high school in the translations. this story tends to make fun of shoujo cliches and the MC is a very unreliable narrator, but the whole thing is both fun and funny.
there's no romance for the MC yet and it doesn't look like it will change any time soon so those who are looking for that might be better off choosing a typical shoujo story instead. i find the laid back pace refreshing and usually end each new chapter with a smile and a growling stomach...did i mention all the food?

Not all series need to have an expansive plot about saving the world. In Reika's case, it's simply enjoyable to listen to her life as she inevitably approaches her role as a villain in a shoujo manga. As of the translated chapters, we don't know if the future will be significantly altered from what Reika 'remembers' or if she will eventually be a villain, but as of now Reika is an adorable girl just living her life. There are many points where I even respect the character, going out of her way to help others who were in predicaments like she used to be in her prior life. She's supposed to become a villain in her high school years, but the WN has slowly crept up to them while showing her character in primary and middle school. Not much happens to her other than slice-of-life shenanigans, but through the author's voice it's enjoyable. If you want a comfy series with an entertaining MC, this may be up your alley.

MC Kinda sucks...

The main character, although supposedly a 20 year old something, is pushed around by kids younger than her and has no back bone what so ever... The only thing redeemable about her is her drive to study more, but even then it says she only gets average test scores...
If the MC wasn't such a tool I would like this story a lot better. Will continue reading to see if there is any character development. Overall the concept of the story is really good and I want to see how it will change, if at all, form the novel she read.

If this, and Otoburi, another similar LN with the same premise, is an indication of what shoujo-based reincarnation stories are, then sign me up for more. At least in comparison to all the ones about shounen protags...

This one is a slightly comedic take on the reincarnation genre, this time as the rich ojousama asshole antagonist of a shoujo-manga. Of course the commoner reincarnate doesn't want to get the Bad End of the original character she now inhabits, so she tries to use some of that great power some people have: common sense. Like Otoburi, there seem to be divergence from the original "backstory" of the story-within-story shoujo manga that the reincarnate-MC is incarnated into, but we haven't yet even seen the original-Heroine, so who knows how much has changed? As it is, this is mostly a progression-of-life story of the MC's new life, and how she copes with trying to keep things as steady as she can without tripping any landmines that will trigger a Bad End someday down the line.
