despite the shounen style and typical pantyshot/slight fanservice. I think that's why this manga has a lower rating. Though I do wish the series was longer and more fleshed out with less characters (6 in the group but only remember 5 of them) and more emphasis on the acting (though that would have been much more shoujo-esqe and definitely not in the shounen category)
My rating is more biased because its hard to find shounen mangas with a female protagonist with purposeful and interesting relationships (not necessarily romantic) with likable male characters. you can get all girls cast for a female protagonist in a male demographic, and you can get shoujo-ai in a shounen but its hard to find a likable shounen manga with a female main character (at least from my female point of view)

I had my reservations when I started reading this but after volume one it actually grew on me. Usually, I'm not fond of light-hearted series going serious. However, this one was a good read and I even regret that it's only 5 volumes long (even though the story is complete and well-thought from the very beginning till the very end).

This manga is so much change of focus & genre :
vol 1 : i think this is slice of life
vol 2 : baseball
vol 3 : actress
vol 4&5 : super natural good vs. evil
Sure, first time 'Bake' the cat show up represent comedy feeling to the story but in later vol. there are no joke ,all are serious matter.
This work is not the same genre as other works from adachi.

This series basically flirts with the various Adachi themes without going in depth in any of them, which leaves a somewhat shallow impression.
Basically you have a hint of romance, a hint of comedy, and a touch of drama in what starts as sports oriented but veers in a totally different direction halfway through.
The ending has the typical Adachi style, but there is a form of closure on a couple of topics, and since the story wasn't leading to any specific goal to start with, there shouldn't be any dissapointment by the open-ness of the last page.
Recommended for the Adachi fans/veterans if you want to see the extent of his works. The newcommers should go see Rough, Touch, H2, Crossgame, Katsu instead.
