beautiful, atmospheric, relatable, realistic

This yaoi was stunning. This is the first I've read (I think) by this mangaka, now I'm about to go read all her others. The story starts out simple - a simple setting, two "normal" people at a club - one who works there, one who parties...and yet, it's so refreshingly original. This yaoi was breathtaking, as in, seriously, even right now, a good 20 minutes after reading this, and probably for quite a while longer, I am still catching my breath. The atmosphere was a 10/10 -- it made things very moody, confusing, hazy, and everything culminated in a beautiful peak after so much tension. The characters were just like real people to me, the main character was a great representation of a straight man falling in love with a guy for the first time, and that whole yearning about wanting to see him, wanting to see him smile or laugh, being drawn to him constantly, longing to touch him, thinking another guy is cute for the first time... all of that was so real. The author really makes you fall in love with both of the guys, especially Saya. You see the main character falling for him, beginning to have feelings for him, and the readers start falling for him too. Or at least, I was like that. You feel the character's heartbreak, their desperation, their pain, their longing for reconciliation and forgiveness. As bad as I felt for ------- for what happens, I understand that it's a lot to process, and if you're getting ahead of yourself a bit before really knowing what you're getting into, I relate to the mc. I don't think he really struggled with the idea enough, he just kinda went with the current and got lost in his emotions, and when his mind caught up to process the reality of where things were going, he couldn't proceed. It's definitely very sad and very heartbreaking though. Sexuality is just confusing.

The manga is short, but it touches on the very deep, very real feelings of hurt and bullying and homophobia, and the scars it leaves on the people.

I love the main character, yuusuke. he's relatable, more so than saya, i think, although i definitely feel for saya. his budding love for saya, starting with realizing that finally there's someone who can understand him and read him and know him. They're so hot, too. I'm not saying that in a shallow way, but I mean that the chemistry, especially the tension, between them is seriously sizzling. There were times I had to take a break and breathe and just stare at a panel.

This manga is just wonderful. Read it if you want to feel and fall in love.

Really really cute~! Second manga I'm reading today and this one was so much better! It's definitely worth your time for a quick, adorable story.
The artwork is really nice and both characters have strong enough personalities for a one volume story. Saya is incredible, I want to put him in a bottle and take him home. Yuusuke is quiet and kind, and although that is usually not my type of seme, it worked for him!
Surprisingly for a story so short, the plot is not at all what I expected! It was really unpredictable, so that I enjoyed it a lot.
I wish this was longer so they could stretch it more, make Saya's past deeper.

So great things about this manga:
- It subverts typical BL cliches, while having some cliches of its own.
- The tachi actually WAITS when the neko asks to wait! Wow!
-
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
More realistic reaction of a straight male's reactions when in homoerotic situations! Oh god, I feel like I've waited 50 years for this kind of more realistic reaction! ....However, it doesn't stay realistic for long, 'cause this is only one volume, after all. TT __TT

- FANTASTIC art. Incredibly sexy, and the mood is great. Things flow nicely.

Better Portrayal of Fairly Straight Man -> Liking Men Than Most

Like some other reviewers before me, I enjoyed the fact that the seme was portrayed as being hesitant, and basically scared, at the act of sex for the first time with another man especially when he'd believe he was straight up until now. I wish this was portrayed more in yaoi manga. So yeah, and 8 just for that.

I personally thought the art was only so-so.

The manga is finally complete and I can safely say it certainly is different from standard yaoi. It's a very exciting read with new developments (especially in ch 3). The conclusion was good also, though I would have wished for it to be a bit longer.

Again, I am not getting disappointed by this mangaka. The art is gorgeous as always and the atmosphere is very erotic. But without being unnecessarily senseless or smut driven. I just get a genuine romantic feeling when I read this.

Anyway, give this one a try I'm sure you'll be able to enjoy it.

There're things about this mangaka that I like, but also quite a few things that rub me the wrong way. She draws her seme and uke pretty much the same every time. Not that it's uncommon, but after you've read a few works by the same author, you kinda want to see something different. Then there's the thing of the uke kind of being what you'd tag as a "crybaby". If not crying, then almost crying quite often. Lots of blushing, as well.
I do come back to reading this mangaka, because she offers the regular stories with a twist + hot sex and good art.

Based on chapters 1-3 (and looking at the raws for 4).

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
This manga starts in a bar. We have a guy (the uke), who's supposedly a womanizer, but clear cut clues are given that he doesn't actually want to sleep with them. "I feel better when I'm around girls". He gets friendly with the seme, from whose perspective we see the manga. He works at the bar, has trouble expressing emotions clearly on his face, but the uke picks up on them. That's a pretty familiar plot-line. The usual something happens, uke owes seme a favor and they start spending time together. One of the things I liked, that even though there's physical contact, they don't just jump straight to bed. And this is treated in a way that's a big surprise in this manga, from this mangaka and in BL in general. The seme lusts after the uke. He kisses him, he fondles him (he even faps to a memory of him), but when he sees the uke's naked body, he's scared. He's unsure. And yes, as the person bellow me said, it's terrible to reject the uke like that, but it's need noting that unlike the portrayal in manga, especially in yaoi manga, a man who's never been or wanted to be with a man, needs some adapting to do. It doesn't go straight to bed (pun intended). And with 4 chapters and still no sex, this is a very well done plot line. We see a bit into the uke's sad past. The homophobia and the bullying. And we see how hurt he is by that, to the point of trying to reject his sexuality. And how hurt he is that the seme runs away when seeing him naked. Yes, it's sad. But this is a very unusual plot that I enjoy seeing explored.

Melancholic Atmosphere

The story is very interesting so far. It started off really cute and generic. And then all of a sudden, i get these wave of emotions thrown at me. We get glimpses of Saya's past that deals with very dark issues revolving around homophobia and bullying, which just crushes me. I like when manga's focus on the deeper meaning of homosexuality and not make it out to be a perfect, happy, and fulfilling life because it's not always sunshine and roses. I wish it was and society as a whole still needs to work on that. Chapter 3 Rant:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Chapter three literally broke my heart. I can just imagine how Saya must be feeling once Yusuke rejected him AFTER seeing his body. Like really? You reject someone once they show you their most vulnerable state. That's sooo wrong, especially since he was the one that initiated it in the first place. If that ever happened to me, i would feel like absolute shit and start developing the worst insecurities about my body. He should of known what he was getting into. LIKE YES, HE'S A MAN. OH MY GOD I'M GETTING SO FUCKING EMOTIONAL. Saya, i'll hug you my dear. <3
Enough with my rambling, the art is really amazing. I'm totally digging Ogeretsu-sensei's art style. The characters are great and with each chapter i read, i desperately want to learn more about them.
