The stories are adorable and very fluffy to read, but I'm a little annoyed by the characterization. All of the males are portrayed aggressive and possessive, and the females are portrayed as defenseless and idiotic. The guys have their cute moments, but sometimes they can be complete jerks and the girls still come crying to them and forgives them. I'm just a little annoyed that it seems to reinforce the cultural attitude of male dominance and female submissiveness. However, this isn't exclusive to Shiiba Nana's works as this ideal appears in a lot of shoujo manga. In a sense it just represents the internalized sexism in Japan, and the idea that males are stronger, more emotional stable, more capable, and more intelligent than females. The idea that because males are superior, females are suppose to, even if they resist at first, eventually give into the demands of the male.
I think it's little sad that all we get is a single short story with each of the character sets. The characters are qute lovable, so by the end I found myself kind of attached (especially the girl in the first story -- totally adorable character). Other than that, these are "Surprise! We're a Couple!" one-shots with excellent character development (for such a short page counT), so there's not much else to say.
>.< the male leads where such trolls! >.< i loved them!!!! they where so funny. i loved the plots i think they where all well written. the art was great and over all it was a pretty nice and fun manga. i enjoyed it.
very cute. (: i think the dumbness was drawn out a little.. i mean who would notice that someone always got three from the bottom in exam results?! and the one in the first story didn't seem that dumb..
in the second story, the one i least liked, the main guy was a BRAT. but he knew it, she knew it, the mangaka knew it, and everyone knew it. xD so i didn't mind that much, i mean there has to be a guy like that somewhere. and he was sooo cute. not in personality, in looks~.
only real complaint was that the guys are all starting to look alike.. lol.. or is that only me?? i didn't mind too much, though, because they were all different, even if a little bit. and they were all cuteeee. <3 pretty typical romance oneshots, with a cute and comedic element.
I love this mangaka! i love her drawings and plots and everything but this manga was too obvious. Don't get me wrong, it was really cute but it was just SSSOOOO obvious and fast.
i mean she cries in front of everyone saying she wanted to be with him, and he ignores her? what a complete jerk, and then we're supposed to believe that he had wanted to go out with her from the beginning? if this is true why didnt he apologize for making her cry and tell her that he liked her, right away? but no she goes after him like a moron after being humiliated in front of the whole school. he should have told her the truth the moment everyone was laughing at her...
This was increadibly cute. I remember the author once mentioning that most of her characters are idoits, well at least in this one she tells you strait out and yet it's utterly adorable. On the aww scale I give it a 5/5. The art is of course wounderful and the translation was excellant.
