Description
Middle school left Uka Ishimori with nothing but scars—to the point where she’s forgotten how to laugh or cry or even say “hello.” But a chance reencounter with a boy with lemon-colored hair invigorates her, giving her hope that maybe, just maybe, life can be that much sweeter if she finally reaches out for help.

Definetely an eight from me.
It's hard to me nowadays to find shoujo that in the mid of story I'm not bored at, also find that softness and delicate love. "Honey Lemon Soda" can melt your heart several ways and occasions. It's really a soft and sweet story, sometimes filled with the sourness of lemon, indeed.
I don't consider the main hero of it, as "boring'. Do you really expect fireworks from a light shoujo manga? The strong side of it it's just how "gentle" it is. Also, within the story, its impossible to not grow symphaty for Uka or Miura. Its really a lovely manga, which leads you to embrace the power of change and growing up.

The whole premise of this manga isn't anything new. A shy, meek, anxiety-ridden heroine with the cool and popular male lead. Now, it doesn't have to be an original story for it to be good, but this story fails on so many levels.
The heroine is extremely boring and uninteresting. And the scenes where she speaks up that are supposed to be all inspirational and make you think WOW SHE'S GROWING! Are honestly kind of cringey. She has no personality other than being obsessed with the boy. Other than her than that, she's a hollow image of every other shoujo manga protagonist.
Now annoying and bad female protagonists aren't unusual but in this series, even the male protagonist is EXTREMELY boring. He's the coooool guyyyyy, but he barely does anything. Oh, what a bad boy with dyed hair~~ WHOA! No. There's nothing to him than a pretty face. He's just a papercut out of any 'cool' male lead.
I like shoujo manga, even the cliched ones. I have no problem with a recycled plot. But usually at least the main characters are interesting in some way, or it's funny. This has nothing going for it. There's barely any humor, there's just constant monologue about how the heroine needs to stop being a basic bitch... Which she never really stops being.
