This is not BL nor yaoi
by BepsRose

Rating: 10.0  / 10.0
There's no love and one of them isn't gay, nor gay-leaning/bi. He has active heterosexual contact with women in the story. The other claims to be gay, but there is no love going on here. There's no romance. Bum's sickness is his driving force, not his sexuality. A female classmate was a previous victim of his. There's only abuse by abused people.

Yaoi implies more explicit BL, with genders necessarily being male. Instead I'd say there should simply be a trigger warning for male-male rape and incest. The perpetrator was not gay, nor did he perform those acts because the victim was male. As mentioned above, there's just as much heterosexual content.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Sangwoo calls out "mom" while raping Bum (reenacting his childhood trauma). He didn't rape Bum because Bum is male, but because Bum is who was close by--the male part didn't matter
Pretty sure that's rules out yaoi.

As if the artist was a fan of 17-sai, but like in the wrong way. 17-sai instills dread, grief and disgust & that's pretty much the only appropriate approach to this topic. Certainly not the hype-aiming, cheerfully pop BL-romance undertone koogi chose for a story like this. The artwork might not be so bad, but hardly genius enough to be able to compensate for the disgusting BS it has for story. Just another example of how poorly chasing after shock value may end, and how the quality of hype matters after all :\

One of the worst, if not the worst webtoon I ever read.
Ending was just treash, Author care about fan service and satisfying weirdos who ship those two mfs, more than staying loyal to her work, so disgusting.
She should learn from author of Interview with a Murderer.
Wished I could give it zero lol

My favourite manga

I like dark twisted mangas but a lot of the time I feel like they lose their way and get rediculous, unbelievable or have plot holes that never get resolved. Killing stalking had none of that. It was a dark story that never got dull and kept me in suspense wondering what crazy thing was going to happen next.

I think another reason I loved this manga so much was because of how self aware it was. It knew it wasn't a romance between a 'social outcast' and a 'missunderstood badboy'. So many other mangas would try and go down that trope having it all just be a dark missunderstanding and that they were lovers all along destined to be together. No it was a mentally f*cked young man confusing love with violence and trying to figure out a way to survive a psychopathic murder, and it did it well.

If you can deal with gore, trauma, r*pe and psychological abuse then definitely read this manga. It's amazeballs

zero thoughts only vibes

BLs of this type are not generally my taste (let's ignore my morbid curiosity forcing me to read the occasional Harada work) but I remember I stopped this about a quarter in and decided, on a somewhat procrastinatory whim, well, why not finish? I still can't really rustle up any noteworthy thoughts--it's not like we didn't see that ending coming, and certainly the "twists" don't mess me up the way Harada's twists do
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
(did anyone think that Sangwoo would have a pleasant childhood????)
--which, on a tangent, makes me wonder if this manhwa would've been more punchy at half the chapter length--but I can't stop thinking about it, which says--something, at least. I've read way too many reddit posts theorizing about what everything means, but honestly I think Koogi could be a bit more overt with her foreshadowing. Her art is very, very impressive though considering she's revealed she's only in her mid-late 20's.

Will not comment on the other reviews that seem to speciously equate fiction with reality (there are so many of this ilk, truly) but I can't say I won't miss your utter travesty of a relationship, SangBum forevaaa xoxoxo

----------------------------------------

EDIT: Returning to add after coming across this in several other reviews: I think it's easy to dismiss this manhwa as straight-up torture porn if you didn't finish it believing in the central conceit of the story, which is that although both characters are fucked up, they're fucked up in ways that are arguably perfect for one another. Who else would understand Sangwoo better than an obsessive pervert of a stalker? Who else would give Bum their wholly, undivided (and terrifying) attention? If you're any sort of invested in this relationship, you can't help but want them to have even the shallowest replica of a "happy" ending (just maybe…alone, in a corner of the world away from everyone else) and the narrative's drama stems entirely from this aspect. Will Bum’s sanity win out over his desire to love and be loved? Will Sangwoo ever stop being such an abusive psychopathic piece of shit? You know what the answer is, but you keep reading because you're hoping that somehow, against all instincts, a miracle will happen.

This is one of the OG BL manhwa out there. Anyone dabbling into yaoi has heard of this. This is definitely not a love story and not meant to be enjoyed as one.

Not sure what to rate this

Like many have said before, this is not BL, it's not romance, it's two f*cked up people forming an obsession with each other. Everyone's a little f*cked up in here, even the supporting character Seungbae (who btw is really hot *fans self*).

Definitely lots of r8pe scenes, most of which seemed consensual to both main characters but really as readers looking in from the outside, it's clear it's all kinds of wrong. I'm not sure what to rate this because while I think the artist is clear that they're not trying to portray a love story, it sometimes borders on a grey area as there's also a lot of romanticising the "relationship" between Yoon Bum and Sangwoo.

Definitely not a manhwa for most people, esp those who are not mature enough to see it for what it is. If you are able to though, this can be quite an interesting look into the life and mental being of a psychopath.

Never read anything like it

I should preface I’m not one who often reads or seeks out these types of stories tho, so I can’t say how it compares to others in the genre.

Art 10/10
Super unique. I’ve never seen anatomy drawn so well. It’s really well done and probably one of the best I’ve seen. The sex scenes are disgustingly well-drawn and disgusting, but that has nothing to do with the art style.

Characters 8/10
Each of the 3 men have a lot of backstory and depth to them. Everyone else fades into the background.

Our main character Yoon Bum is a poor abused cinnamon roll. He does some very wrong things, but he has some major underdog energy going for him. He’s been abused and is abused throughout this story it’s hard not to root for him to be happy for once.

Yang Seungbae is bae. We get a glimpse of his backstory and his methods as a police officer are questionable, but he gets the job done.

Oh Sangwoo particularly is compelling with how messed up he is. He always keeps you guessing as to what he will do next. You want him to get caught to stop his destructiveness but also you don’t because he can be sweet to Yoon Bum at times. But ultimately he is definitely the bad guy. Don’t emulate him or fall for him.

Plot 9/10
A bit slow at times and that is the only objective criticism I can offer to the story. Personally, I had a lot of trouble finishing it because it’s really hard to read. And by that I mean it stresses me out so much it’s difficult to move onto the next chapter. I feel like the author is literally abusing the readers with the messed up things they come up with in the story. I didn’t want my personal distaste to affect my rating of the story, so I kept it as 9/10.

You're in for a wild ride

I wanted to read psychological horror fiction after finishing Horimiya. I decided to read Killing Stalking because I wanted to see how "crazy" the fanbase is making Sangwoo to be. This is my first time reading a webtoon/manhwa like this, so I didn't get my hopes up.

And, holy crap, I think I'm in love with the author now. Only a crazy person could write a character as terrifyingly inhuman as Sangwoo and Yoon Bum. Please do not ignore what the author said in her notes.

Websites should really change the genre in Killing Stalking because it's not a romance manga. It never was. And I wouldn't describe it as BL either. There is not LOVE here. THIS MANHWA IS ABOUT ABUSE!!! Both characters are obsessive, mentally unstable individuals who don't know the first thing about being human. So, no, I'm not rooting for anyone in this manhwa. I'm just here for the long painful ride.

Did this series scare me? No. Did it have me at the edge of my seat? Yes. Absolutely fucking yes. If you're looking for a wild ride, Killing Stalking is for you.
