Great character development, based on real life issue, pretty art styles

I remember dropping this manhwa when its first released after just reading the first episode. I really do pissed for an insecure from the bottom to the top type of character so i dumped it for the next few years. Apparently, i still can't resist to read it because the art styles is so pretty, even its one of the prettiest manhwa art styles i've ever known, so i gave it a try again, with fully prepared heart of the possibilities i'll turn it down again. But, i just realized the family issue topic brought on is very similar to mine, the difference is just i was the one who always bring achievement yet i also the one who being ignored just because i was the only daughter. Which is sucks, for sure. It was really impressive to see someone like Wooyeon, who still ballsily confront her parents even though she was scared of them (esp her father omg he really is my father's long last twin LOL). Furthermore, Kijeong is really the best ML!!! I can't really explain how much I love this manhwa now; its a wholesome story depicted with a perfectly great art style.

So fluffy, so wholesome, so cute. How can you hate it? This series is meant as a relaxing slow burn, which is what this author does. If you don't like, then you can go~ but if you stay, then hopefully you get to see the deeper meaning behind Spirit Fingers 🙂

A great cast of characters

This has a really fun ensemble that all grow over the series. The main girl starts off timid but watching her development is very rewarding.

It's also hard not to treat the title as a JoJo reference.

boys will be boys

This manhwa does a great job developing the main character. The story starts out bland with her being all weak but she will quickly becomes much stronger. When she gets her confidence it becomes much better seeing her speak for herself. The supporting cast are all great.

I do have a problem with the romantic interest. Its too bad with a story about a girl gaining her self confidence that the romantic partner is someone who constantly negs on her, calling her names. The guy is also forceful and a complete stalker. When they barely know each other, after she does not respond to him for a night he goes and sleeps outside her house. It might seem cute because its just fiction, but the relationship is not a healthy one. Its too bad because it seems the author understands this. She puts out statements like, it shouldn't be ok for a guy to be a complete asshole just because he is hot, and also they correctly call him a stalker. But then will just turn around and brush it all off the next page like "hot boys will be hot boys" and continues on.

Good series. Some issues but overall gets the message across and is entertaining enough throughout. Albeit with a weak start.

Spirit Fingers.

The story is about a shy somewhat unimpressive girl joining a group called the spirit fingers, where people of all ages are allowed to be in. This is her story of coming out of her shell and becoming her own person. With the help of everyone around her.

The series starts weak honestly. The art isn't that impressive (massively changes for weird reasons as well). The comedy isn't that funny and somewhat repetitive. The characters motivations and they themselves aren't that enjoyable to watch either.

This sort of shifts at around chapter 30ish. When we get to know more about the main cast, the characters personalities and generally the series overall becomes much more fun as more and more characters introduced. The drama surrounding certain characters is revealed in more detail.

Throughout the series it just basically grows on you. I can't pinpoint the shift exactly. But suddenly the art style wasn't so bad anymore, the characters personalities weren't so annoying anymore and the comedy starting hitting more than missing. I think this is the gradual change that happens alongside the FMC. When she becomes more confident the series overall becomes more brighter.

Its very enjoyable to watch her become the social butterfly from someone who couldn't even talk to other people. The series does such a great job of showing us that. I do think the side characters could use some work. The male lead especially wasn't really that likable. I mean he grew on me but much much later than everyone else.

The side romances as well was done somewhat poorly. Like this series is a dating romance series and is able to show the tough part of being in a relationship. But at the same time you know it has the cliches that, my work is real important, im not good enough. But these aren't really that problematic either.

I think i disapprove a bit of the message here. I like the fact that the female lead goes through this change. And i like watching her become something that she can be proud. But I don't like the motivation behind it. Yes the people you meet can change you. However this series feels like its saying that the people you meet are cool, exciting, ridiculous, overly friendly than yeah you too can be kinda social than before. As such the message gets a bit muddled. They help her too much and it takes that standing on your 2 feet away. Despite this she still grows herself so yeah.

Some of the characters also just kinda disappear? Like they get removed from the series like Launch did from Dragon ball z. It's not that they are gone but more like the author forgot they existed. The series also drones on for like 30 chapters too long.

Reading this series reminded me of Princess Jellyfish. Its another series where an incredibly shy girl comes out of her shell. The difference however is the fact that the writing in Spirit Fingers is just 100x smarter. And even though the pacing can be slow its not a fucking snooze fest The comedy is also slightly funnier. The romance is much much better. To me this is the series that Princess Jellyfish but falls flat on its face

I think when tying up all the loose ends as well it could have done a much better job. It felt too easy and lazy. The characters also had these issues where everyone else was to blame but themselves. The son is a dick because the mom is a bitch because the father is an asshole because the company is tough etc. This is complete bullshit. Its on thing for the characters to feel this way. Its another for the author to show us and make us want to believe this garbage.

It also has a comedic timing problem.. This is a big issue in every series but doesn't mean i won't mention it. The comedic timing is bad. When making a series discussion. I don't wanna hit with the lanky ass drawing about some stupid ass joke. Its an emotional moment let the scene past.

Despite the issues i mentioned, I think the good part about this series outweighs the bad. The main message of this series is also clear. Though it does kind of hammer it in a little bit.

TLDR Good series. Some issues but overall gets the message across and is entertaining enough throughout. Albeit with a weak start. 7/10

A Good Webtoon

Will re-read this when I don't remember the story as much haha. Definitely worth re-reading. It has its flaws, but it's much better than a lot of shoujo these days. The guy treats the girl with respect and they COMMUNICATE with each other. The girl also learns to stand up for herself and becomes more confident in pursuing what she believes in. It's more relatable as in it shows the girl's family dynamics and issues, as well as the intricacies of friendships that are often missing in shoujo manga. The interspersed comedy is also entertaining.

Man. I think everyone can relate to this webtoon, or at least to one of the characters, in one way or another. The stories of relationships (with family, friends) and portrayal of feelings are just so realistic and relatable, the plot and humour so good, the characters so lovable... I'm just feeling sad it's over. I hope Spirit Fingers lives on in each of us. The tagline, "An adventure story about finding one's true colours!" is what life--our lives--is about, after all, isn't it? Gah. <3

The ONE small complaint I will have, however, is that towards the end (last 30 chapters, maybe?) the plot seems like it's never going to end. Problem after problem come up, and the author runs multiple complex storylines at once that it feels like we take one step forward and two steps back. Like a messy, tangled mess that has no exit point or solution. Not saying it gets draggy, but it feels like it's never-ending, in a way. (I still love it though, because I really didn't want it to end, LOL.)

TL;DR: I love this and you will love it too, so JUST READ IT.

I love this webtoon so much since it's genuinely realistic and the character development---especially the fl was evident all throughout the story, she learned how to be true to herself and how to stand on what she believe is right. The most touching part was when she was clearly gaining self-esteem and realized her self worth. This webtoon made me laugh and cry, it delivers a message to all of us that we should do what we want or enjoy to do and just be ourselves because we're enough and we're all beautiful just the way we are.

I have absolutely NO complaints about this webtoon. Every character is so likeable and dynamic, and besides the romance, the best part of the webtoon is the character development. It is so great to see Wooyeon gain confidence over time. The characters are hilarious and 4D. I highly, highly recommend this webtoon!

Cute and funny story of character growth, friendship, family, and romance

Super cute characters who start a croquis club where they do quick drawings of each other. Every club meeting has a different theme and the art is really pretty and colorful! The female lead starts out as a relatable downtrodden high schooler but grows as she gains support from her new friends and increases her self confidence (without changing her basic appearance!). The series also critiques the overly competitive academic culture in South Korea and encourages making friends and pursuing your dreams. Nearly every character has a potential romance, and the main leads' romance is refreshing and just darn cute. At first glance, it might seem like a typical handsome boy x plain girl romance, but it's subverted by the male lead's 4D personality (he's constantly associated with poop and is just generally naive) and the way the relationship is slowly developed. Highly recommend!
