Not sure how to describe it. Fairly unique. Serious. The art style made me fear it would just be low-key with people getting KO'ed instead of dying, but nope, it's a serious story.

Starting from chapter 3 there are many huge revelations which change the way this story is framed. One big revelation in chapter 3, and then the following chapters begin to discuss the consequences of that revelation, which are revelations in themselves. (At the time I type this there are only 5 chapters.)

No epic fantasy manga's world has ever come close to the level of the Wheel of Time's world, but, coincidentally, aspects of the fictional world of Tales of Innocence strongly resemble it. If I gave specifics it would spoil chapter 3 on, so I'll just say that they have a similar type of character intrigue and plot intrigue. Ah, it also resembles Angel Sanctuary. I suppose you could say that in some respects in even resembles AS more than WoT, since "heaven" and "earth" apparently exist. But the politics and world-wide scope of the plot more closely resembles WoT than Angel Sanctuary.

My only significant complaint is that the characterization (facial expression, words, action) has failed to make me care about the characters. So far, only the plot itself has made me care about the characters (specifically, a brief flashback in chapter 3 made me really interested in their potential).

Based off a DS game

Just like what the title says. I plan on reading this one after I finish the game. Although I'll probably look for the raw volumes, if and when they are released. It's the first game that introduced me to the Tales series (because I only use handhelds).

Game and manga are very different . . .

Just some notice, since I read the manga and play the game simultaneously. I actually think there's no real need in waiting for the game to finish before you read the manga or the other way around though. It wouldn't spoil that much of each other. The only similarities I saw so far in the games and the mangas are characters, places, and maybe the final goal of the group (haven't finish the game yet, but I can make out that it is pretty much similar, though the game doesn't explain that thoroughly about the reason behind that goal though . . . iirc . . . ) The plot itself is very different. Clearest pick-out, Ricardo, Ange and Hermana not joining the group since they first met (not in case of Ricardo in the game, but he join on the second encounter at Naohs along with Ange anyway) and place where you meet them (I believe you don't want me to spoil that much of the thing, but Hermana for one does NOT meet with Ruca at the same place in the game and in manga . . . ) And of course, the manga ridiculously cut out tons of details. It's like, the manga and the game doesn't really follow the same path for the plot. So, actually no worries about spoiling stuff.

Boring

This manga was boring for several reasons:
1. The artwork is not my type at all. Character's with big bubbly eyes and strong action don't necessarily mix.
2. The manga was too rushed. Maybe this is due to the fact that I never figured out there was a game until reading all these comments but even if there was a game, mangaka just wanted to get the manga over with.
3. Characters have no special trait to be remembered by, besides, of course, their past lives that made them "amazing."
AND...
4. Story was a major letdown.

Was a good manga, but too short

Well, considering that i haven't played the game, so i went into this manga without knowing i was getting into, but i'm glad i picked it up.

To me, Tales of Innocence have a good ability to draw attention to the characters (especially the main character) and the story as well. The art is great and the story is awesome but the thing that pissed me off was how short it was. Maybe if it runned for longer it would produce a greater story that what it already had... too bad.
