I'm not going to lie, I started Peridot solely because of the yuri tag. I went into it expecting something to develop between Akira and Mahiru.
Still, regardless of my reasons for starting the manga, it wasn't terrible. Mahiru is a very beautiful, interesting character. The art is quite nice. Some of the plot lines aren't horrible even if you couldn't call them deep exactly. All the girls are sexy and the fact their frequently disrobed isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Overall, even if it wasn't quite what I was hoping for, I still had fun reading.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
and of course nothing does; the only yuri in the series comes from an obsessive lesbian girl who's around for only one story arc

I kinda fell in love with Mahiru.
Good read over all I did wish it was bit longer.
And for them to show what was under those bandages...

I originally came across this while looking for more of Kobayahi's work. I first became aware of him with his work on Hiyoko Brand, and wanted to see what else he'd put out. After reading the synopsis of it I really didn't have any expectations that it was going to be anything great, but I still found that I enjoyed it more than I anticipated.
The artwork, as seems to be the case for this mangaka, was fantastic. While not quite as good as Hiyoko Brand (it is an earlier work after all), Kobayashi still draws some of the best looking female characters out there. If you're a fan of ecchi and fan service, you won't be disappointed here.
What surprised me was how much I liked the characters though. Not so much the main character, as I found Mahiru rather one-dimensional, but most of the secondary characters around here were really quite interesting. If this series had continued beyond the six volumes it did, I would have really liked to have seen more focus placed on them.
There wasn't really much of a plot, and most of the different story arcs can be read independently of one another, but it still worked well enough for me that I could forgive it for this. I knew this going into it however, so I didn't have any expectations of anything more and thus wasn't disappointed.
As I said then, overall I enjoyed the series. Sometimes it's nice just to check my brain at the door and enjoy a story with great artwork and fun characters. For that, Peridot more than fits the bill.

This manga has some really good art and a lot of potential. Unfortunately, it couldn't decide if it wanted to be a mature story with a mysterious heroine or a bit of a typical high school guardian story with a sprinkling of HSDK. Its just not consistent with its tone and direction. The manga becomes episodic and the stories at times mediocre. Again its disappointing because the manga had a good start and the main character is both interesting and drawn very nicely.
The ending seems to come too soon, because it had potential to go further and be decent. It was entertaining at times and for its art and other strong points it gets about a 7.8

I got this one initially because I love the art of the same author's "Okusama wa Joshi Kousei" and kept reading because of the art. The plot pretty much sucks, and there's way too much rape.
There is no real story, but the art is nice, the fights are good, and above all else the fan service is terrfic

I loved it would recommend it. It has great action plenty of skin and fun to read. Not to deep but has a nice plot for a martial art theme. I love the main charters personal,Not wanting to get involved but steel does and ends up with friends. Just a nice light good read. It's worth the look.
A nice martial arts/action manga with some good background story!

I find the manga Peridot very enjoyable to read, and not only because the ecchi contents. There's a little character development: the protagonist, Mahiru Suruga, is a very cool girl who doesn't care about the things around her. But when the story evolves she's begining open her heart toward her friends and people around her. There's also a sad background story about her and her mother. These things make the story very interesting.
The art of this manga is very good. I must say Mahiru Suruga is a very beautiful girl (well drawn), a very cool character and the bandages around her arms and hands make her even more mysterious, very stylish! The martial arts in the manga is not exceptional good, but still very nice.
