Description
"I'm pretty sure that the downfall of humans can be completely attributed to their curiosity", such is Ewon Jung's philosophy. Because of his curiosity and his "affectionate nature", Ewon somehow finds himself, after cheating one time too many on Jiho, dumped and threatened into working as a caretaker for Jiho's new boyfriend, Mookyul... who just so happens to be a Mafia Boss.
And it is just the beginning of Ewon's troubles.
Between Jiho, who still burns at Ewon's infidelity, and Mookyul, gang-leader with movie star good looks who starts to take a keen interest in him, Ewon slowly gets entangled in a net more intricate than that of the dangerous underworld, how will he survive it?
Ever since I saw the cover to the Yaoi manhwa I was completely hooked. Both character's are absolutely gorgeous, and Mookyul never fails to make my heart beat in every scene. Definitely one of the sexiest seme's I've ever come across, and the whole storyline/art is completely beautiful ^^
I'm surprised I didn't write a review for this manga! I love this manga inside out, from start to finish, from the characters to scenery. This was one of the first Korean manga (or manhwa in this case) that I have read. The characters are fantastic and the development they make moved me. The relationship between Ewon and Mookhyul was well played and I every twist and turn made my heartache. I RE-READ THIS MANHWA ALL THE TIME, I CAN'T GET ENOUGH!. I definitely recommend this to everyone.
What an incredible manhwa!!!!! Actually I've read this a long time ago but didn't had the time to give my reviews upon this but right now, I just re-read it and I just can't shake the urge to shout it to everyone that this is an awesome manhwa, whether you're a yaoi or shounen-ai lover, you just gotta read this!!!!
I love the plot, I love the characters, I love the art, I love the ending and I love the DJs. What else can I say?! I've read a lot of yakuza-related stories and some sucked while some managed to hang on but this one is so different. It's just very different in the sense of how the plot goes and how the flow of story flows!
Not to mention that I really like Ewon. Although he was a badass for thinking that "trying" to sleep with another person to see if it works out other than his own bf (whom I feel sorry for). However, I think the relationship between Mookyul and that weird old man is just...weird. I never like young guys with old man (no offence here) OR young girls with old man. It just seems weird you know. That one feeling.
Anyway, I don't wanna give anymore spoilers, so my thought is, READ THIS. No matter what other people say about it, you read it, THEN give your opinion about it. If you hate it, found out that it wasn't as great as what other people have described, then it's okay! Everyone have different opinions. But try reading it first before following what other people say! :>
I have read this manwha two times. The first time I read it I was really annoyed near the ending because things were getting too dramatic for my taste and it felt like a a chore to read but I decided to give it another chance and I just couldn't put it down until the very end and this time, I'm not sure why, but the ending didn't bother me all. To put it simply: This. Manwha. Is. Amazing. Ewon is so lucky to have someone as hot, rich and devoted as Mookyul. This guy is willing to give up everything for him. I love Ewon by the way even though he can be a total ass sometimes. He's not the usual weak helpless uke that I see a lot in yaoi stories. >.< this is definitely one my favorite manwhas and I will never forget it HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!~
I love this manga. I usually hate manga or manwha's where the seme bullies the uke but I really like this one It's my new favourite manwha Even if you aren't a yaoi fangirl like me it can do for everyone I hate the old man though I don't agree with you guys.the story never dropped for me and it continued to be awesome If you want you judge that harshly thinkif you can create a manwha this good and have art as good at this and story and plot You shouldn't crticise
i absolutely love this manhwa, its one of my all time favorites!!! despite my biased opinion (and obsession) though it really is a good story with an actual plot and characterization. if you haven't checked it out yet i must insist that you stop what you are doing right now and go do so! you won't regret it! i am sooo glad i decided to read the dj years ago. after reading it, which gave me so little of the actual plot, i went to find the original and boy did i get a nice surprise. and there are a few things that irk me but yeah, every story has its quirks. despite the cliches and more weaker elements of it, totally captivated is still really good. i love the story not only because it was unique and different from the mainstream yaoi, but also because of the characters itself that were created. so awesome X)
Read it for the smut! ^^ Korean mafia is a great setting, the two main characters are yummy, just enjoy the show!
Some plot points were a tad too full of cliché drama (like the whole 'went to the same school as children=>unresolved drama' story) And toward the end, the whole situation with the old guy
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
sleeping with Mookyul
was, imo, extremely unpleasant and disgusting.
But if you put that aside, the story isn't bad, and more importantly the smut is HOT ! <3
before, i don't read boy's love manga coz i just thought it was plain weird and then i stumbled upon this.. then i became a rabid yaoi fangirl! hahaha..i guess the complaints about manhwa were valid but what really hooked me in was the humor.. the smuttiness in the story was not overt to the point that it was.. i don't know.. disgusting perhaps? but rather.. it was erotic.. haha.. anyways.. thumbs up!
I really liked the character relationships in the story. I loved seeing how a situation completely reversed and I may be biased in my rating because I have a thing for possessive lovers. The first 3 volumes and about midway into the 4th volume held the kind of story I'm addicted to. Then something happened and the author decided to make it more dramatic and in the end, it just didn't complete into any sort of masterpiece. Also, Ewon's story keeps changing and you can tell the author was aiming for some huge, traumatic experience which never reached fruition, ending in something cliche. A cliche scenario isn't bad! It's how an author decides to portray it that it can become heart-wrenching or stale.
And Mookyul's "foster father" and their relationship, though is greatly emphasized in the beginning despite Mookyul denying it throughout the entire story, is irritating and does NOT come to any conclusion. In fact, it was such a half-assed wrap up.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Mookyul ended up being able to keep both despite Ewon's fear (which he had every right to be considering how the story portrayed Mookyul and his "father's" relationship. I don't believe anyone can be considered father and son if the son is climbing all over his father seductively...). I don't know if I missed anything, but there's no sense of conclusion with that and wasn't even explained properly in the following DJs.
Overall, the story focuses a whole lot more on Ewon than on Mookyul. I'd say maybe 75% Ewon and 25% Mookyul (and that 25% is all between the relationship between him and his "father.") It just ends so sloppily and it's such a pity for a story with all the aspects that I really like!
Volumes 1 - 4.5 I'd give an 8 for a yaoi story. It had the comedy I was looking for. The art is decent, but their facial expressions barely change. Not necessarily the face, but the eyes... the expressions from their eyes aren't as powerful as I'd want. The author tries to focus on drawing them handsome and seems to forget how to do facial expressions.
Volumes 4.5-end+DJs, I'd give it 2.5. Honestly, that's how disappointed I was reading the last few volumes of the story. I did admire their passion they were able to convey to each other, but story-wise, it just failed to deliver.
Don't let the 2.5 rating deter you though. In an overall perspective, it's a great read and some people can easily gloss over some annoying hitches that I catch (I'm just tedious like that). At least read up until the middle of the 4th volume. It's great before it falls flat and you can determine whether to continue reading or not.
Those who throw in faulty fallacies such as, "let's see you do it better," are only portraying themselves in a small limelight of emotion in which he or she cannot back up their statement and therefore throw back an argument that does not add or contribute to the original argument at all. See: ad hominem. I don't mind plot issue debates and I respect other readers' opinions as long as they provide logical arguments--not logical fallacies.
