Disappointing and Fragmented by voraciouszest on November 1st, 2008, 5:02am

Koi to Uso to Pride to (What a title...) was my first experience with Kisaragi Seika. Whereas I'd normally have previous works to compare to, I only have this one to look at.
It was all so predictable and the order of the storyline was so askew it left me wondering whether the author had accidentally missed a few pages at a time. And the ending ... oh my god, the ending ... (You'll have to read it to see what I mean). The art is at times detailed and attractive, but most of the time it seems too square in shape and without very little attention to background.
That being said, I still enjoyed this series to a certain extent. Akira, the host, is an attractive character as is Kamio, the young master. Hazuki is a little disappointing. Although I've never been particularly fond of spoilt, weak-willed uke's.
In the end, I can't really say whether this work is as unsuccessful as it is because of the mangaka's inexperience, but I'd have to assume it plays some part if it is the case. Koi to Uso to Pride to is okay for a quick read.
