Appealing in all Respects

You just know; when the authors of Rookies and Death Note (Artist) get together, their brain child could produce a baby as exquisite as this short chaptered One-shot. And they literally left that interpretation up in the air.

The story is fast and engaging. The art is something out of the pages of fine works such as Tsutomu Nihei's "Blame". And the characters, they create themselves, through all rights and opportunities.

The end leaves you in such bewilderment, you're hoping there's more to come.

Who knows for sure if these two talented conspirers will come together again, but we do know one thing, this Baby will never say goodbye.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The girl only did it with the elder brother as she clearly indicated she and the child would be waiting for him 10 or even 20 years. She was 9 months pregnant when he was gone only 4 months. But ever since he failed the mission of killing the Yakuza boss they knew he would be killed. When he was unwilling to kill the girl did say to the little brother "it looks like we have no choice" meaning they already planned this in the event he failed. It seems the girl planned it so that they (she and their child) can survive and the little brother just followed her orders. The little brother was forced to betray his brother just so that they can survive. When they were cornered the little brother made up a lie that the baby is his just so that his brother didn't have to suffer knowing he left his child fatherless and die peacfully.

first, the art. of course it is beautiful and full of life, since this is the artist for hikaru no go. the character design is very good, i love the mc's clothes and tattoos. other characters also have thier own personality even though they don't have much screen time because of the good character design. secondly the plot is is good, with an interesting twist and an interesting twist to the twist itself. this one shot is recommended for anyone that like criminal protagonist.

the art was 10/10 The story was good as well, if not just a tad bit predictable. I can't believe it! I feel baaaaad for the protagonist although I'm not as affected as I usually am in those unforeseen tragedies. Maybe if the story was longer and if I didn't know it was coming.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
Even though he killed himself, I think that they will kill his "younger brother" and whore of a girlfriend in the end, they were enemies after all, they won't let them live or they will be killed by the other mafia group for betraying them, they brought it up themselves.

I thought the art was really good(pretty much what you would expect if you knew that this artist was also the DeathNote artist).

The storyline was pretty decent. It hooks the audience in, and gets you to care. And admittedly, I kinda liked the way the simple, "crude" way the characters talked.

But the ending was really interesting. I half-hated it, and half-loved it. It was satisfying in a way, but I also wanted to see something more.

So, my conclusion?
Good art.
Good plot.
Conclusion could have been better.

But mostly, it's good, so I think it's definitely worth the time to look at it.

haha, I loved this! It ended too fast though... I REALLYYY wish they continued this manga because the ending left so many unanswered questions. Still, LOVED the drama and the fast-paced action. Another great one from Obata Takeshi. Art obviously is beautiful.

It was okay. The art was superb as always, and fit the story. But the story was crammed and was trying for emotional, but failed to grab me in in the first place. So I was just reading it, wondering what the heck was happening. The "twist" at the end just made me roll my eyes, didn't see it coming, or care to. And the ending itself was... iffy, to say the least. I nearly punched the main char through my monitor for his stupid.
Shame, I had high hopes. The gang thing was pretty promising...

I read this on a whim and did not regret doing so. It was somewhat fresh since it hadn't been done before (or i haven't read anything like this before). I felt they could have gone further with this beginning and it could have become an interesting series. Like one of those manga/anime that just stands out because of its creativity and ability to branch off from the normal cliche that is associated with manga.

Yes, I agree with Yeran's comment. It was a good story considering its length. A realistic portrayal of gangs and such..

Hello Baby is a great oneshot ~ that could've spanned its story even wider.
