Description
From Tokyopop: One moonlit night Shuichiro saved an angel stuck in a tree. The angel granted him a wish to repay his generosity. Shuichiro said, "I need no wish, I can get what I want on my own." But they'd both soon learn that some wishes can't be fulfilled alone.
... I read this in my local library once. Totally forgot >.>. Actually, it's my friend who picked it out, her mom picked us up after skate lesson and I read the books she borrowed to pass time... Didn't get very far though, and I skipped quite alot. Forgot all about it once I got off the car... Well, not that it's got anything to do with the manga but I needed to say it to someone >.>
I have to say though, first impression is pretty important after all. Even now I still think of it as a stupid idiotic funny manga, more suited for young kids. I mean, I never did take comics seriously, I don't understand what's so good about them. That just so happens to apply for physical english mangas as well lol.
Well in any case, I probably wouldn't read it if it weren't for me reading the physical book first, but it wasn't so bad. Idiotic and childish but I wasn't taking it seriously anyways, so yea, good time passer. The art wasn't too shabby too, I enjoyed the pretty wings~ lol. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone, nor did I really like it that much. But that's it, there's nothing I got against it either.
I won't reread this manga, but it was nice, non-dramatic. I'm just too mature to read something without a bit of erotic yaoi (there is no even kisses between main characters in this manga). I liked mangaka's marvelous style of drawing and side story about Shuichiro's mother.
yup.. thats what i said.. its boring.. i dont really know what it is that im seeking but it just doesnt have it! and im pretty confused if this is shounen ai or whatever, i mean Kohaku is in a different kind of girliness and it seems like nobody is opposed and it just feels like everybody is gay.. i dont know.. i haate cannon relationships!! maybe thats why im not into CLAMP stuff.
anyway.. about the art.. not that pretty for a story that deals with angels but i guess that it'll do. as they say in Japan: "Ma- iika!" and the archangels.. which i deem is like an all gay group.. look alll the same..
about the story.. it just felt jumpy! the relationship is like a straight line no feelings whatsoever and then BAM! his suddenly into him and his heart aches.. ok.. maybe im just being too hard on the story.. but yeah.. the details about Heaven and Hell and "the details".. but really? ok i'll let that one go.
i think that the ending was quite good, and sweet but thats just me being a borderline-hopeless-romantic..
Alot of people are confused on the gender of Kohaku. In this series, Angels or Tenshi are genderless, so they have it to where the readers can draw their own conclusions.... however i prefer it a shounen-ai so that is how i read it lol. Beautiful story by the way. One that made me cry. I loved it. One of Clamp's bests. I love the art and the story line. The characters are unforgettable. Someone else had said they loved the depiction of Heaven and Hell and i have to agree. It was interesting. One of my favorite mangas to date.
Haha, hey kit--having a flat chest doesn't necessarily mean that Kohaku was a male. In reality, you barely see the chest of some girls anyway. When I was reading this manga, I portrayed Kohaku as a female because this manga doesn't have that shounen-ai vibe (even though it's labelled "shounen-ai").
Anyway, the plot is deep and good. Very entertaining and enlightening yet somewhat sad. Doesn't jump around, CLAMP likes to take their time with moving on the next situation, I guess. Different characters (even with other works. The only time characters look the same is because of manga-crossing; CLAMP would make some characters from their other works appear in their other ones). I would consider WISH as chicken soup for my soul.
The plot is original and Clamp always adds on a twist to their work and I love it! If you like like stories that romantic and dramatic I suggest this manga for you. Its got great art work and a great plot. The only thing I disliked was the ending but other wise I really loved this work and I would defiantly reread this series! This is a Shounen-ai Hehe even though sometimes you are really confused about the main characters gender XD It took me a couple of chapters to realize that the "she" I thought it was actually a HE! (Look at chest totally flat)
it was my first manga too ^_^ I read it in German where the angel is referred to as "she". But here I read that it's actually Shounen-Ai. Could you help me out please? o.O
Wish was the first manga I read. [Thereby making Kouryuu my first manga love...] I typically don't really like too much romance. It's like too much sugar in the frosting of an otherwise good cake, it makes you gag. But the fact that the romance in this was unorthodox balances it out.
I wasn't amazed while reading it. But when it comes to the last volume... The ending was really good. It was a bit sad, but beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes.
When I first started reading this manga I also loved it. One of the things I really liked about this manga is the detail they gave about how Heaven and Hell. It's great if you're interested in angels, demons and love and has cute little interesting stories that actually have originality in it. I highly recommend it. The art work isn't bad either.
