Not what I wanted

I bought the first volume wanting more world building and how society works in Splatoon as we don't really know anything. It's probably good for some, but to me it's too childish. Goggles constantly loses his pants, either by choice or accident, I know some kids find this funny, but to me it's not funny now and wouldn't have been funny when I was the target audience. The first volume only covers battle mode, and it seems like they start covering the story mode with the battles as filler between DLC and new games. Due to the unpopularity of the male inklings in the first game, seeing him staying that way throughout the series gives me mixed feelings. Could probably be used for some world building and showing growth as he gets to get his "hair" changed, but he appears to be the same throughout the series. Is it the worst ever? No, it's just okay. Could Nintendo have used this to provide answers to what some of the audience have been asking from the start in a way that won't come in the way of gameplay? Absolutely.
So if you are after some light-hearted naked people are funny gag series with parts of a game, here you go. But if you want something like Himekawa's Zelda manga which provides extra world building and character development, you won't get it. Hopefully someday, but not here.
