Description
"To Hiiragi Kouichi-kun. I'll be waiting for you after school behind the school gym. Sakuragi Umeko." These were the words written in the first love letter Hiiragi ever received. But when he meets Sakuragi, she tells him that she wants to take him to the planet R'lyeh!?! Disappointed that the love letter from the cute girl came from a nutcase, Hiiragi returns home, only to find that Sakuragai won't give up so easily. Not only that, she may have been telling the truth afterall! But then again, Hiiragi isn't such a normal guy, either...

natural talent vs will
Rating: 10.0 / 10.0

This is a very very beautiful seinen. One of the focused questions could be: what if you have talent for something different than what you want to do in your life? The main idea would be that your natural talent has a context, but you have a life beyond that context, and you have to take care for you at all levels and beyond that context.

The relationship between the parents and the protagonist is the key to solve the big task put to which he was destined. It would be an interesting reading for parents and sons also.

Nice art, as usual with Satoshi, nice and complex plot, good action.

Short but bittersweet... but mostly short. With a mere 1 volume, theres not much to say. Theres obviously a ton of potential to take the story in a ton of directions (ie. the Lovecraftian references are flat-out never explored) but the characters are pretty good considering the length of the story.

Was a fun read while it lasted, pretty short but lots of development. I didn't like the ending, though. Not because it didn't end the (clichéd) way you'd expect. I just think it's pretty hard to pull off a bittersweet neutral ending, and this wasn't the ideal way to do it. Oh well, it had other small flaws, it was mostly some kind of experiment for the mangaka I guess.

Again, it's a fun read, just give it a go.

Mizukashi Satoshi Classic

A very good manga, clearly by Mizukashi Satoshi. If you've read Wakusei no Samidare then you will definitely see some similarities, but this isn't a bad thing. A rather short romp musing on the consequences and true meanings of having so-called "god-like" powers. Not everyone wants to be a superhero, and not everyone wants to be special. After all, even "heroes" are humans in the end.

Amazing one-volume work

Completely fleshed out characters, great plot, amazing ending, beautiful art, and perfect pacing. Seriously, read this if you enjoy this kind of story. If I had any criticism, it would be that no one ever seems to notice the main characters when they're doing things that stand out.

I have to disagree

with the guy below me. He's clearly only read half of the first chapter of Lucy.

I have to say, I really like this manga, alongside the author's other works. There are various similarities to Lucy (things you pick up on, if you've read Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer) but each manga stands on its own, and for me it gave me a sense of appreciation. I'd actually started reading Psycho Staff, realised the similarities and -then- checked on mangaupdates to confirm my theory (that they were by the same author).

So I've definitely become a MIZUKAMI Satoshi fan. I'd also recommend Sengoku Yoko (which from the description and first chapter starts off pretty 'normal' but then that Mizukami Satoshi flavour starts hitting you).

I just wish they (IEM) would finish scanlating Psycho Staff as I'd really like to get to the end of it.

Better than ever

This is one geat series because this one is better than all the other ones that i have read.
I mean come on. Every other manga and anime is like i have power so lets do something and save those that we love.
This one is unquie because that main hero is like screw the world and let it be save be another person.
Also lucifer and the biscuit hammer has no point in it at all. All of a sudden he just want to protect some unkown girl and is not freak out about the lizard. The plot sucks in it and the main dude is totally whip by the girl in lucifer and the biscuit hammer.
I prefer this serie better than the other

boring and uninteresting.

"no i dont want to do anything interesting because i need to go to college. Why? uhhhhh... because?"

"Oh yeah i already know i have powers but id rather go to college than do things interesting like world domination."

I really like this author, Wakusei no Samidare is very similar but this has it's own flavor as well. I am also enjoying the many Lovecraft references such as Dagon andR'lyeh.

Another unconventional manga with a dry sense of humor. If you've read "Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer" you'll definitely notice similarities, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
