Heptagon is nothing special. It has awful artwork and panel layout. The narration is disjointed and you can't tell when time lapses have occurred. The author clearly put some thought into the plot but she does a mediocre job explaining character motivations and tends to repeat herself a lot. Sorry to put a damper on 3 pages of endless praise but this manga is just average.

I started and finished this in less than half an hour, but it's the first manga I have read that had me saying out loud, "Omg nonononono please no! Nooooo!" and then "Yes yes yes!" and finally "Wow. Wow..... wow." I really felt for the characters.

It is so well-written; tight and neat and really packs a punch. Hijiri Chiaki does a fantastic job of creating drama and tension in all the right ways. I was totally gripped all the way through, and the ending was totally satisfying and cathartic and just wonderful.

I love Heptagon. Truly an all time favourite. Definitely re-reading.

p.s. Sorry for the disjointed and rambling comment, I am still reeling from the sheer awesomeness of this manga.

this manga was really refreshing, its been so long since ive last read an actual manga from my Wish List.. and i gotta say i have no regrets. it had good timing, the art was really cute, the characters had amazing development. the character though a bit weak was not annoying to me maybe because she reminds me of myself a little too much it hurts. unrequinted love.. that was the story of my highschool life smile and i look fondly at it because no other boy left such an impression so im waiting for someone who will leave a mark xD anyways back to the subject, i liked how it ended.. because im a happy ever after kind of person and it just made me sigh.. it was just so lovely and you just cant help but like it! really! i mean who would not like this? and also the length! the length was just perfect but sometimes the fainting episodes were just confusing.. i mean which parts were the memories, which the actual happening at the moment? but i sorta got it smile

I loved it. It was executed perfectly and was a dream come true. It had a nice moral, good ending, character growth, likable art, and a thought provoking plot. What more could anyone want besides more.

The story is so beautiful smile I just love it biggrin It is well developed biggrin I dont like those 1-volume mangas, because I believe no good story can be in one volume. I was so wrong. This one is very good, the art is beautiful. I just hope there will be a sequel T_T I want to see more romance.

I must say that this is one beautifully executed story and the art really suits it well setting the mood perfectly. The ending manages to have the same impact as a tragic one despite being happy, something that's very rare. Usually these types of happy endings feel like a cop-out leaving an empty aftertaste, but not this one. It really is the perfect ending for a story with a semi-tragic tone.

My only criticism, and this is a matter of personal taste I guess, is that the story is a bit disjointed and at times I was a bit confused as to what actually happened in the past and what she changed. I mean, it is mostly clear on the big points but some details were ambiguous though considering that the author had to show both without being too obvious about it, he/she did a good job. Then again, this is just my personal taste and why I took off a point, but I rarely give such high ratings.

This manga is very beautiful. I just started reading it from my "jumble manga folder" on a whim, and boy was I surprised? This is some deep poo, man!

What would you do if you could relive certain parts of your childhood, would you act differently or just enjoy reminiscing? This manga depicts how easily children can be destroyed for life, just because of bullying, and how their personality will change drastically accordingly. But the manga goes much deeper than that, when it takes up topics about death (and the feelings of the ones left behind) and siblings relationships from a child's and a grown-up's point of view at the same time.

I enjoyed it very much, and now I actually also want to travel back to when I was a kid, to change how I reacted to so many things. Aw... Damn, WHY CAN'T I?

---

Egoamote, I think the reason why they didn't choose the ending you depict is because that would reduce the audience. It is just my perception that quite some people may drop reading mangas if they are somewhat tragic.
