So-so

As if the first story wasn't annoying, it just haaad to get worse on the second story. Really? Having sex with the son (thought he was his father) but having lingering feelings with the father? Ermmm ye ok just no
UPDATE: This comment is NOT for this manga. Sorry it got mixed up. I forgot what manga that was, but it certainly isn't this.
---Real Comment---
This manga would've been nice if the bathroom incident didn't happen. It did became fluffy later on, but the seme was not consistent. The uke was tsundere (partly bc the uke wasn't confident with their relationship), but the seme would reassure that he loves him by his words. But at the same time, the seme kept testing the uke's love for him (by jealousy) which is a bit annoying for me. Being inconsistent is not really nice in general.

the rape ruined it for me. it wasn't a very good manga to begin with but i would have definitely rated it a bit higher if it wasn't for the abuse. i hated how the seme was portrayed as an affectionate and caring, while in reality he was a manipulative asshole.

Better than average.

For me, this was better than the average, but not something I'm likely to read again. And nothing advanced at all with the characters or their relationship. It was just 5 chapters of rehashing things.

I know it was supposed to be funny how Ishikawa kept resisting Yamaguchi and their relationship, but for me it got too mean too many times. It wasn't very funny, just pretty awkward and not that enjoyable to read. And I don't get why you'd keep insisting you hate everything about someone, and having sex with them, after you've been sleeping together for a year (but then I think that about 99% of stuff like this). Oh well.

It wasn't really for me, I guess, but it was better than a lot of similar stories. I really wish I'd liked it better. sad

really good plot

I like it very much, nice plot, different, not typical, somehow josei, I mean about everyday life of openly(?) gay couple. The characters are memorable. It's also funny, really can cheer you up ^^ and with pretty nice graphic sex, but I don't like the art, it's old-fashioned and sometimes ugly, kinda poor, man. really
The oneshot is really good, somehow the art's better. Worth to read!

Kunieda's take on 'ordinary yaoi'....

It -is- her take on the usual yaoi cookie cutter stories.

And what a take it is.

She plays with her characters; bending them juuuuuuuuuuuuuust enough with the convention. It has all the tropes! Tsundere uke that despite everything just WANTS to be straight but CAN'T; check. A tall, dark, possesive seme, check. Even a Rape is Love scene!

Yet giving them enough...bite to be her own characters. ALRIGHT so none of the people are batshit insane or immensely tortured, unlike most of her works (the sister aside; that's some wicked make up skills, sister! Way to be an Ullzang.), but they have their quirks, and are still more 'alive' than some characters in yaoi could ever try to be. Not to mention all the twists and turns (...Yes, a 'normal' guy who would be doting and possesive, would more likely to be an all-out popular nice guy rather than the cold lone wolf alpha guy some yaoi would like to depict.)

I personally love the sweetness, but I understand how some people can be let down by it.

for some reason i hate tsundere girl but really love tsundere boys. ishikawa totally cute, hes lucky he got understanding guy like yamaguchi. not giving full 10 cos the jealosy kinda get tiring.

the last story is great too! kinda confusing but worthwhile.

It's more like a love/hate relationship here..

I absolutely loved the art. And for some reason I found Ishikawa to be extremely attractive, annoying, but attractive. The way the artist drew his eyes... And his hair. I rather enjoyed her art throughout the series.

On the other hand, the story is a whole other, uh.. Story?
While I liked Yamaguchi's sweetness, Ishikawa was always, and I mean /always/ being a douche to poor Yamaguchi. And that irked me. I mean, at times Ishikawa would suck it up and be semi-sweet back, but it usually didn't happen. He'd instead moan and groan about wanting a girlfriend.

Looking past that, I really enjoyed this manga. Mostly for the art and the fact that I liked how adorable Yamaguchi's sweetness was (though at the beginning he wasn't quite that sweet, heh).

I'm really torn with this comic, because I love the art. I've read a few manga written by Kunieda-san, and this volume has my favorite art. The characters are filled with life, and the lines just flow across the page. If nothing else, read this manga for the art.

On the other hand, I really hate the characters. The tension in the first chapter was fine, but it continued at the same intensity throughout the volume. Ishikawa constantly complains about having a boyfriend, but can't stand being away from him. I have no clue what Yamaguchi got out of the relationship, but he lost my sympathy when he raped Ishikawa (Never sexy). I don't have a problem with the tension in itself, but how it was portrayed as being a cute, fluffy relationship, when it was anything but. According to the afterward, this was Kunieda-san's attempt at a "typical" yaoi manga, which is probably why I disliked it so much.
