Ending

I could not stop crying!!! It was sooooooooooooooo freaking sad people! And the thing about the ending is that, I DID NOT EVEN LIKE IT! Why the heck did she end it like that? I don't want to give anything away for the people who are reading this, but have not yet finished the manga. AND WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED WITH ZERO, someone please fill me in. There were sooo many other ways she could have ended this manga, but she choose the really sad and disappointing way :/ I hope she somehow remakes the ending, or I may have to just draw out another ending for myself >:l

Disappointing Ending

I found the ending to be severely fulfilling. It would have been fairly simple to create something much better:

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
First wake Isaya from wherever he's been napping for the past thousand years so he can change Kanami into a human. Then Yuuki takes the "medicine" that was developed and becomes human as well. The pair would then have been able to live their final days growing old together before passing on at the end of a "natural" human lifespan.

At least the two produced a pair of Pureblood twins from their single night together; to have the Kuran line die out with Yuuki would just be insult to injury.

Unfulfilled Promise

This series started out with such potential, but quickly lost its way.

In my eyes, there are two major flaws.

The first problem is the sudden and inexplicable change in the direction of plot.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
A few chapters in and the mangaka throws us a curveball regarding Yuuki's true identity and the story derails, never to right itself again. Where the plot had, up to that point, been intriguing and well thought out, after that it falls apart. It turns into a convoluted mess of barely understandable politics and dispassionate relationships.

I'm not sure what prompted Hino to do the old bait and switch routine (dangling one type of story under our noses, just to replace it with something else) but it was the death of this series.

The second problem I had with VK was the lack of heart. I felt the beginning had a lot of it and I really connected to the characters and their plights. But along with the change in plot direction also came a change in focus. Where the characters used to shine and take center stage, the meandering, hole-filled plot took over. If the story had even been merely decent and executed well, this could be forgivable. But that is not the case.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Instead it feels like Hino just came up with random scenarios to play with the hearts of Zeki and Yume fans. The characters became but a shell of themselves, just soul-less vehicles for the pitiful excuse of a love triangle. None of the main characters stay true to the roles the mangaka originally gave them, but not because of development or growth, which would have been acceptable even if it was for the worse.

No, the tragedy of it is that Hino removed much of made these characters inherently them and turned them into boring, blank slates - one dimensional generic caricatures no longer able to touch their audience.

It grieves me to see how this series turned out, with so much wasted potential coupled with an unfulfilling ending. I can only hope, since previously she had been one of my favorite mangaka, that Hino's next series will be handled better.

From a Favorite to a Disapointment

This started as my favorite series, there was mystery, intrigue, romance presented in a few different ways, the supernatural and a little action too! Then somewhere around the middle (timeskip) things went downhill, it wasn't all bad though, there were parts I enjoyed but on the whole it wasn't as good. And then it became just rushed at the end, especially the last chapter. I was really disappointed, there were many ways to end this but I felt like the mangaka wanted to give everyone an end where they got some happiness, as a result nothing really 'felt'. I wasn't happy, I wasn't sad... I was just lukewarm and a little enraged that such a great series went astray into trying to please everyone and resulted in pleasing no one because it felt so ingenuine.

The ending...it was horrible!!! Everything just came to an abrupt end, all the previous chapters were just wasted. I think the author herself didn't know how to end it either, the mood was completely different than what I had thought this manga was about...the plot changed...I really hated the ending, just ruined the whole entire manga for me. I'm grateful for it being scanlated...but..wow, the author really disappointed me, I expected something better than this.

we all criticize one thing or another but we never seem to see the good in what we criticize.this manga is drama personified that never really appealed to me but after reading it once more you can see the good as well as the bad,and now that its finally over i can say that my thirst has been quenched

Waaaaaa! It ended!!!!!!! I think it was a nice ending but I shall not spoil the story, for those that are looking on this page wanting to know about this manga, you should give it a go. That is, if you are interested in romance between vampires and humans.

Loft

Now the author is showing her will to buy many lofts in Tokyo I fear, but this manga used to be quite good, it still is even if it should have been drawn to a close for some time now. But lofts have their allure...give this a try, it's good.

I want to be as concise here as possible. When I first read Vampire Knight a little while ago (few years back) I stopped after
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Yuki became a vampire because the story was hard to get into (for me)

Now I've re-read up to the beginning of volume 16. I've read actual volumes though, because the scans are lacking in detail and create a void in the overall series.

Basically, the story hasn't gone too downhill, it just lacks exciting moments (so far). I want to see more vampire action. When they bite each-other, I don't like to see it quick, I want to see actual fangs sinking in and whatnot, like
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
how Hino Matsuri drew when Zero first bit Yuki.
That, for me, was dramatic and created a dark yet intriguing atmosphere. The art has become less detailed in some cases, which is unfortunate. I feel as if though some of the characters look younger then they did back around volumes 4, 5, 6, etc.

One good thing is that Yuki at least seems to be independent to some extent. She wants to help humans and vampires, and she doesn't sit around ALL the time. But then again I'm only in the 70 chapter range.

One character that irks me is Kaname. I've always felt a weird vibe from him. Every scene I've seen with him and Yuki has been off putting (except for when she was little, that was kind of cute). He's pretty possessive. I'm a Zeki fan, which I guess is obvious. It seems right to me, but I know everyone likes what they like, and there is a strong chance that Kaname will stay with Yuki, but I personally would like to see some Zeki at the ending.

I know Vampire Knight is ending soon, so hopefully things will pan out well and not half-baked, because I don't like that half-baked bullshit.

Anyway, that's that...

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
And people are just mad because Zero and Yuuki ended up together. Case closed
