Mediocre

Feels like a "The breaker" spin-off... and till the end it's hard to grasp what the story is going on about, maybe the translation has something to do with it but I can't judge it so I wont.
In any case, neither the main char, the story nor the fights were interesting and the ending felt way too rushed and unfinished, maybe there'll be a sequel someday? not that I'd be interested...

The reason I am not giving this a 10 is because the story has ended after 81 chaps but has left open a lot of lose ends. Something must of happened behind the scenes in real life that forced the cancellation of what would of been season 2.

The Mc is a total idiot and a street brawler whose preservation endures him to a martial arts master. He then learns this Master's art and gets tangled up in the politics surrounding his martial art. Its basically a story about new vs old and how should things progress.

In one corner is Reunion, they take all Korean Arts possible and dissect them and "improve" them an then spit out new easy to learn version. The idea being that what was once secret techs are now open for everyone providing you have the ability to learn to. They also do what is called making artificial ki, with students being graded by how units(60 years worth per unit) of ki they have.

Then you have the traditionalists. For one part they believe that Korean martial arts should be taught only to Koreans, especially for what they call the Heaven Riches class(which are the strongest martial arts in this story). They are passed down from one master to student, sort of like the Sith Rule of Two. As such with the Lightning school, its forms are abandon and stripped to its core principles as these core principles are meant to be mastered and them in corporates into the current master/student personal style. This means that the lightning school evolves and changes with each new successor. For the MC he is a street brawler so take that what you will. The school he is in also suffers from a user having a large ki pool as it deals with purify ki and using it, thus a quality vs quantity thing and the MC never gets the artificial ki boosts as they are detrimental to his style.

The Story revs up the political slowly but the story ends with twists that will make you go wtf. 10/10 if it had a season 2 but for now 9/10.

One of the best Manhwa, I ever Read !

This was the session one...as some people comparing it to Breaker and saying that it got what Breaker is missing, IT'S TRUE!
Though things are different...but, what is to compare here is The Protagonist...Totally polar-opposite to Breaker Protagonist...!

I felt that the ending of the fast season was a bit rushed, to be precise the about last 15 chapters !
But, ironically these last chapters are the ones, that made me give it 10 out of 10, which was 9 at the middle...they was Awesome...though I knew what's coming, The Plot Twist/s were way more awesome than expected...!

Waiting for the Sequel...Fighting! ^^

What THE BREAKER was missing

It's like the other half of The Breaker that was missing, if you liked both parts of the breaker series you'll probably like this. The basic master disciple set up is very reminiscent of each other(foils of each other). The is a lot missing though, especially in terms of likeability for the main character, and it was horribly rush at the end with only vague promises of a sequel. But all in all it's not a waste of time.

Too bad

I'll confess, i'm writing this...apparently 962 days after the last release. But I have a pretty clear memory for me to write a little comment here.

The manhwaga was very unsuccessful with this manhwa in korea and had to work two jobs to support himself. Despite his attempt to leave the end open, we definitely won't be seeing more of this.

It's a real shame that this series was hurried to an end. The last few volumes show a visible degradation in quality, with one character being pushed into a comic-relief role, other characters being rushed in their development, the final motive not entirely coming from nowhere (it'd been suspected by many, kind of), but definitely NOT fitting the atmosphere of the series.

When I first read this series, it was awesome. The Breaker-tier (part 1, that is). The last few volumes are still good, though. A good comparison would be The Breaker: New Waves, though I think New Waves is better simply I expected more from Veritas.

If you wanna read some Action, Fighting, no fanservice, "boobs all over the place" stuff, here you go. First of all, I'm quite pissed off since almost every MC's fighting reason is to Protect someone. but here comes Gangryong that wants Revenge and getting Stronger just for the sake of it.The Artwork is pretty good too, so here are ++ points.
For those who read/are reading Kenichi or The Breaker or its sequel, its quite alike but without NEVER-ending cliffhangers and fanservice stuff. Shorter too.
IF there's a sequel, but from what I've researched its about 2yrs or 3 since the end of Veritas, it will be EPIC and I'm certainly looking forward to it. Just have hope, it might come sometime (Berserk fans know what I'm talking about)

Good at first

This manhwa was good at first but it went downhill for me. They manga is about a cocky guy who likes to fight, which was a plus for me because he is not the typical shy kind of character.

As you read the manhwa, around the middle of the manhwa it starts going downhill for me because it got less and less exciting. The protagonist is the kind of character who gets stronger every time he loses a fight. It started to get repetitive and later on it doesn't even show him much in the later half of the manhwa.

It seems like the author lost interest with his work. Spoilers!!!!! Don't read if you do not want to get spoiled
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The main antagonist of the manga is a girl(forgot her name) and she suddenly kills all of the people that previously fought the protagonist. The author killed all the characters like it was nothing and the ending sucked. The ending was obvious open ended because there is suppose to be a sequel, but there will not be a sequel because I like i said about the author; he seems like he lost interest with the manhwa.

The ending is a failure because there will not be sequel. The manhwa ended up as an open ending because there is suppose to be a sequel for it, but don't count on it. It does not seem like the author is planning to write a sequel anytime soon or writing one at all.

Overall I liked for about the first half but later on it went downhill for me.

I started reading this because I just finished with the latest chapter of The Breaker:New Wave.

Honestly I'm not really enjoying it... as much as I thought it would.
I just don't like the main guy that much.... sigh. he's cocky as f***.
It's so irritating.

This is and always will be one of my favorite mangas! The story is very intricate and it draws you in. You begin to love the characters and the fights are amazing. The women can be a bit ecchi sometimes but its not really a big deal.

people research by murdering each other

The premise is more about fictional style martial arts with fireballs and whatever actually existed. It's somewhat realistic until you realize that these types of martial arts must have always existed. In which case, people should already have a better understanding of them. Unless Korea in this is special and it's the only one that ever had such arts(which doesn't make sense to me).

Other aspects don't make sense despite it. Like the brutality of it is inexplicable. You'd have all sorts of laws being broken, at a large scale. fact is you can't just say the government is in on it because things don't work that way. The police have a sort of independance, the fbi has a sort of independance from the military if they see a crime going on.

Another critique is that it all happens within this limited boarding school environment. The art is good but the women are kinda all ridiculously big breasted. Another odd thing is that there already seems to be a martial art that's beyond any other in terms of power(with about two others that are almost as strong).

Overall I don't think this is a bad manga, but I don't particularly like it. It is interesting to see a world where people treat these fictional abilities as real, studying them and trying to make the best of it. But it's doesn't match things are and were done with martial arts(or any other skill). Scientist wouldn't need to use these methods to study them. And this would be needless even if its all just research. These things are skills but skills have a varied use, and in militaries, people are taught these uses to fill roles. Like bomb disposal, and inflitration ect. All the fighting the students do would be unnecessary if a skill is useful.

The whole veritas isn't any different than usual, people usually have different reasons in any story. that aside, some of the nonsensical-ness(not all) might be lessen if you view these people as gangsters or maybe assassins(though they aren't. Honestly martial arts have never worked that way overall, while some house styles were passed down, fact is that they were used to wage war. having few people able to do that doesn't defend a nation.

Still, I want to give this manhwa some leeway because it is interesting, and while it doesn't start well told, it definitely matures as it goes along. So the way these people act makes more sense in a gangster sensibility context(of families, groups ect). Though in a school type of setting for research it certainly doesn't. So just think of it like all these gangster-like groups thought it was a good idea to send all their kids to this school(to maybe unite them, or supplant them), but they still have hostilities. Course, doesn't make sense to have them fight unless it's just a bloodsport to let them kill each other. The whole research angle falls apart and didn't make sense in the way it was executed. Though a manga about fictional martial arts being treated with realistic scientific interest sounds... well interesting.
