Description

Yes the series may depend on a lot of old 'bodyguard with a crush' tropes to move the story, and of course there's the obvious similarities to Disney's The Little Mermaid.

However, something Reis gets very right is the toning. That's what sets this series apart from most other OELs: it has some of the most elaborate and beautiful toning I've ever seen. Plus there's the fact that the story (which could have been sold as a single normal length volume) was sold as 2 half-length books. Although this was probably because of the artist's schedule, to me these shorter books would have appeal to younger readers. (Although the fact that the Orcans look like naked humans so much of the time might put some parents off…)

Anyway, I'd say the art is worth a peak, especially if you like marine life. (Even if the story is predictable.)
