masterpiece!

this was excellent! all the elements that others call cliches(sp) were pieces of reality. this shit happens. it was very real to me! i felt there pain, confusion, joy, acceptance, growth, most definately their love! i felt as if i knew them personally! from the laughs to the cries. i felt i was right there. man when i read the last chapter tears were pouring out so much i thought i was gonna short-circuit my lap top. even the secand generations issues. it was all real. i liked reading something that went beyond the honeymoon stage of the relationship! just masterful! read it..thats all i can say..just read it.

Great read

You kind of see a lot of the forced elements in the manga which ruined it a bit. A lot of cliché plot devices such as
Spoiler (highlight to view)
car accident, cancer, and rape
was used, and a little unrealistically, too. It doesn't jell with the story, like it was there because it has to happen so that the story will go on to the direction the mangaka wanted and not because it was an unfortunate situation.

But whatever, the mangaka more than made up for it in why this is called a "slice-of-life". Read it with no expectations and you'll have a blast.

The artwork is not consistent. If you put all their faces on a line from their young age to their old age you wouldn't know how to connect each one.

I'm really annoyed!

It may make you cry at some points, but to be honest the stories are nowhere near realistic. It's like talking about gay's problems with girl's fantasies (which all yaoi do, but here I mean not in a positive way). Many twists seem forced and it looks like the tragedy is placed there just for the sake of itself.

READ IT! (YOU MUST) SERIOUSLY!

i have read a lot of manga, shoujo and yaoi alike and "complex" is one of the best things that i have ever read. in my opinion a good manga or rather stories in general can one be good if it keeps you interested but a great story can not just keep you interested but can also make a whole rainbow of emotions(this made yaoi made m cry) but can also affect our lives permanently and those are indeed are rare.

whether its the budding relationship of tatsuya and junichi or the heats break that i felt in the story or whatever part the future reader may like in this manga but i can not 100% be assure you that you will feel what i felt when i read this story, but one thing is for sure when i say this... it is great, it is not your typical cliche and it made me feel more now than i have ever been to be in love.

to those that say something about this story i wish you wouldn't putting art as in consideration it is still great, the art may not be what we usually see but in truth if i could give this story a higher rating than 10 i would.

Beautifully written

At first, I wasn't too keen on picking up this one because the art seemed old and the shotacon element, even if just in one or two spots, was a bit disturbing, however, I went ahead after reading everyone else's comments and I'm glad I did! This is a beautifully written story that captures all the elements of life spanning from when they were children to their very last moments. Very touching and sweet to the end.

THE BEST

This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. This series made me laugh, shout and cry my eyes out, and all the while I never got bored. This is much less one of those flimsy yaoi novels and more an outside body experience that brings you from the dawn of life to the brink of death.

Basically: READ THIS IF YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU. If you don't, then, well... that's too bad.

It has reached my heart

I just found this story today out of boredom and even skipped out on it while reading the first few pages because I thought it was kind of old style and the dude with the shota complex was just creeping me out. But after awhile I don't know what makes me actually trying to read the story through from page one to the last page.

While reading it I thought, every time we see old couples smiling and laughing with each other we would never thought about the story behind their love nor would many writers thought about it. Seeing how the characters in this story is showing us their beginning, love, mistake, sorrow, reunion, acceptance, happiness, and to their ending.

The author's old style of drawing the manga shows that the story begins from long times ago and as the characters age the artwork improved with the time. If we were to compare the first chapter's artwork to the last chapter's it really gives us a image of how the times have change and so as the characters.

A beautiful story...

I'd been avoiding this like the plague because of the shotacon warnings and elements within this story, but I decided to take a chance on it because of the good reviews. Now I regret leaving it so long, in four volumes the mangaka portrays a lifetime of the main characters absolutely beautifully, not letting you feel rushed in the slightest. The story has everything, from romance to drama, and both to happy times and the sad. The story sucked me in so much I stayed up most of the night reading it!

If you love your shounen-ai or yaoi with plot, look no further than this. The characters are not one-dimensional and the art gets better as you get further into the volumes. As for the shota elements, they can easily be skipped (thankfully) as it only has it in the first few chapters, but I appreciate the fact that the mangaka highlighted that such elements had negative reprecussions on the main characters later on.

An absolutely beautiful story that will make you both laugh and cry, highly recommended!

Make sure you have a box of tissues ready. This story is great and realistic proving that love isn't always perfect but it does conquer all. I love it.

The ending made me cry. What a touching story. It really takes you from the beginning to the end of their relationship. It's hard to find stories that cover so much time.
