It's CLAMP

It's exactly like all their other works. You either love it...or why are you even bothering? Obviously CLAMP evokes everything Lisa Frank and rainbow unicorns for me, which is made better by random evil/edgy twists in otherwise tame and mild characters and other crack that has been CLAMP trademarked, so I'm just another zombie follower. A happy zombie follower, though. They made a badass bunnie plushie, dude. That's reason enough for me.

But, I mean, I have to give them some credit. They did a 6-year-stint on some heavy-duty, mind-bending, time-warping fighting shounen (hint, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles) that they actually *finished.* Maybe they deserve to go back to their roots a little and indulge in some fluffy magical girl goodness before diving back into XXXholic.

In any case, I think fans of Clamp can see the warning signs that shit is going to hit the ceiling fan in Kobato. I'm really looking forward to it! Mhmm, rainbow-colored apocalyptic angst.

WOW

Just one word to describe this: wow
!
I've seen the anime and I just can't stop watching it! I've finished the whole series but I just kept replaying it over and over. That's how amazing this is.

I've read few works by clamp such as Chobits, Cardcaptors, Tsubasa and Suki. Although there are some recurring themes such as the otherworldly...things, and more frequent use of similar character traits and their goals, what I like the most is the plot. Although there were plenty of twists and turns (and requires a lot of attention otherwise it would get confusing), it still is a marvelous plot.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
I've re-read some of the events that happened especially the ones that needs clearing up. It seems that it is Kobato that is the main character of the story but she's not. It's actually Ioryogi-san. We know that Iorogi-san fell for the angel Kobato and that the angel Kobato and the human Kobato share the same soul.

Now, the human Kobato fell for Fujimoto-san. From what Kohaku (the angel on earth) said, she and Shuichiro are "soul mates" and that's why every time Shuichiro gets reincarnated, they still get attracted to each other. Ginsei asked her what she would then do if Shuichiro chose another.

This is where Iorogi comes in. Would he let Kobato go knowing that the human Kobato loves Fujimoto or would he want Kobato to fill the bottle up so that the angel Kobato can live with him (since they are in love with each other).

I seriously can't wait for the next update!

I... didn't like it. At first I thought that I fee;l that way, because I'm too old for Clamp, or sth, but I've recently finished RG Veda and it was much better.
There were A LOT of repetitive themes, but I wouln't mind it that much, if the plot didn't feel so rushed. Especially the last chapter. I don't think it was orginally planned to be such a short series...
Anyway, it wasn't that bad, but I was still dissapointed.

Not like other CLAMP works, but good for Shoujo fans!!

I have to say that I am not at all a big fan of CLAMP's other works. I do have all of the Magic Knight Rayearth, but I found that manga to be missing in storyline. This story however does start out slow, but when you reach vol. 2-3 you start seeing it pick up more. It is defiintly on the more shoujo flowery romance side so if you don't like that then don't read it! I have to say that I love it!!! The last chapter that I read (ch. 20) is really really good so if you can stick around that long your set! ^_^

lots of criticism of this manga not being good, and having the characteristic whimper ending that CLAMP is notorious for. but honestly i liked this ending marginally better than holic or tsubasa. it gives you a clear picture. and granted it starts out slow, it got a lot better after the reboot, so don't give up after the first few chapters...

Work whatever... I LOVE THE STORY and i think theres no need for any comparison thingy..
THIS MANGA ENTERTAIS ME AN THATS ALL IT MATTER!!!

The plot is good (a lot of mystery)
The characters are quite reasonable (it kinda make sense why some characters act. The way they are and some readers hatee it)
The art is best as always
And KOBATO is a GOOD MANGA!

So i've finished reading Kobato in two days, I dont even know how that happened. First of all i dont even think the plot was all that good and well concepted. but i also think that sometimes you just need a light-hearted and cute manga to feel better... if you know what I mean. Eventhough the characters were really cliche, the whole atmosphere and how the characters interacted with each other was really beautiful.
Tho i really wish that the whole thing with god and the angles and so on shouldve been shown mote clearly, im interested in that, and that whouldve given the characters way more depth as well!

A snorefest... ZZZ...

Okay, let's get this straight; I love CLAMP. CCS, Tsubasa, xxxHolic, Chobits etc.are all outstanding works, the characters are great and the art is awesome. But for some reason I just can't bring myself to like this. Kobato. was a snorefest from start to finish. I bought all the volumes when they came out, but finishing the whole series took me six years. Yes, 6 years. I literally had to force myself to read the last volume just so I could finally move this series to my complete list. Yeah, the art was beautiful as usual and the dialogue was okay, but I could care less about the characters. Kobato was annoying af, Fujimoto a typical tsundere guy and Sayaka... so bland I have nothing to say about her. The only interesting character was the supposed "bad guy" Okiura. Another, and the biggest weak point in this series was the storyline. You could argue that xxxHolic also started slow, but Kobato. gave the word "slow start" a new meaning. Basically the first 5 volumes are about Kobato dealing with the kindergarten and it's problems, and then we are suddenly revealed an insane amount of information about heavenly wars and royal families and angels and whatever. CLAMP could have dropped more hints here and there in the early volumes, since most of the time you have absolutely no clue what the Ioryogi and co. are talking about. I still haven't watched the anime since I wanted to finish the manga first, but I honestly think that this type of series works better as an anime, since it has a slight slice-of-life feel to it. And I tend to enjoy slice-of-life shows. So please don't call me a "person who can't appreciate a deep story because they only read and watch action series", since Maria-sama ga Miteru, Hachimitsu to Clover and Hourou Musuko are all series that I like. Kobato. isn't. Period.

i would say this is a sweet manga/anime. i love Kobato, she's such a sweet girl, helping anyone no matter how bad they are. she reminds me of Sakura Kinomoto except she's more clumzy and funny. (>y<)
