Certainly an improvement from its prequel

Mayumi and Yuuta seemed like complete opposites before this spin-off, but with time it was slowly revealed that they have more in common than previously perceived. Mayumi turns out to be more than just a spoiled pretty face; he has his strong-willed and wicked sides intentionally hidden from his brothers, and subsequently us readers, prior to this manga, but we only found out about this as we slowly read on. I dig this character development and I think these two suit each other well.
Not bad - certainly an addition if you read the novel.

As someone who read the novel before anything, I strongly recommend everyone to go on with this manga (the first two volumes of Mainichi Saiten! are a 100% manga version of the book so no need to read that, it's really the same stuff).
The novel was incredibly boring with nothing really happening and there only being sort of a shonen ai subplot.
This manga is already much much more exciting and interesting plot wise and actual shonen ai stuff happening between the two characters that had no couple-time at all in the novel.
If you read the novel, then you'll already know the characters and their relationship and the feelings between Mayumi and Yuuta will be even more interesting.
I liked the plot here because it seems more complex, also seeing a new side of the always-cute and childish Mayumi!

The younger the more mature?

Although i'm one of the few that enjoyed the first story, i thought this was much better. They are very open about their feelings and once they realized it, not afraid to move forward....the older couple is still in limbo it seems. Hopefully we will see them bond in the later volumes.
I like this. I don't regret reading it.

I read Hanaya no Nikai de first, then I read this. I think this works just fine if you don't want to read the first in the Mainichi Seiten series. It was because of keristars review that I decided not to read Volume 1-2. I may actually end up reading it out of curiosity, but I don't know yet.
I gave this an 8.5 because I've read manga that I really didn't like, and I just had to stop reading after the first chapter, let alone the first few pages. But with this manga, I didn't feel that way at all. I enjoyed it. I especially love Taiga's brother complex in Volume 4. While I was reading the fourth volume, I laughed out loud at some parts, but most parts I just had a grin on my face.

This doesn't really work without having read the first in the series, though I'm not positive on that because I did read the first.
But it's better than Mainichi Seiten. My complaints for the first part was that there was too much talking and not enough doing, which was remedied a bit with Kodomo wa Tomaranai. There's still plenty of talking about their problems, but we see more interactions amongst the family members, and the scene leaves the house much more often (the other major setting is school, but because of the greater number of background characters and so on, it feels less confined).
Also, I felt this one was more endearing and just plain enjoyable to read. My interest in the series has picked up, rather than being more or less "well, there's nothing else on my To Read list right now..."
