overall, its good. i'm not a fan of the art, its too boxy and childish, but I understand it want to convey the feelings of 'childishness' here. at least the characters always look cute, I especially like it when Misha press her cheeks on Kotarou, a little bump on her cheeks is shown and it makes her look incredibly cute.
the plot is very good. I think most of the things that happens in earlier volume that seems random, explained in the end. in most manga, excessive skinship is just part of the personality, but in this manga, there is a reason for a girl that come out a blue to be overly familiar with a boy. I like the ending, though a bit let down since its not as tragic as some commenters here led me to believe. I'm prepared to cry, but the ending is pretty positive to me.
I think the characters are quite good too. Kotarou have his own complexes and are able to be developed until the end. Misha is quite simple, but utilized well. I love the fact that Ten, a side character, also have a lot of depths.
this manga also get some extra points for having minor shotacon moments here. nothing overtly sexual that makes laymen's skin crawl, but still enough to make someone like me happy.
so all in all, good!

So there's actually a good reason behind all of it...

But just like Megaton had said, for me earlier volumes is soooo confusing, like I'm not sure what the mangaka wanted to tell? First time I read it, I only read 3 first volumes and dropped it, because I don't understand what the story about. Then when searching for tragedy/sad manga, many recommended this, so I tried again. Turned out it's worth it. The in later volumes everything's revealed, and for me, it turned out to be a good story. But yes, me too, do not like the ending... Kotarou's wish in the end is good, but...
well, I recommend this for you that searching for sad manga, but (maybe) you had to bear with its earlier volumes though...

After he lost Shia, he cannot see Misha again... It's just too sad how he had to lost his important person one by one, though his best friend stays with him... I want him and Misha to be side-by-side and be happy together :'(

Gawd, i nearly cried at the end, it was sad misha had to leave kotarou's side. This is a must read, the artwork is amazing and all the characters are enjoyable. It tells you basically everything you need to know throughout the story, and it doesn't get confusing. One of my favourites :]
Really good all the way.... axcept the end

As said before, maybe this is a cute and all happy start, but it's a drama and tragedy nontheless, the art is just beatiful and the characters really acts like people.
If you think this is a little bit too sad, then you should watch the anime instead.
All in all, good all the way axcept the ending

If it weren't for the early volumes having such random and disjointed feelings to them (the mangaka actually makes mention of this later on IIRC) I would have rated this higher. However, if you can get through those first couple volumes this is still a very enjoyable read.

The one thing about Pita-ten that continues to get me is that the adorable artwork is completely contradictory to the storyline. At first the story is light and cute, but it's definitely going to cause tears, because the genres are no mistake. It really is a drama and even a tragedy. It was definitely a good manga, the art probably being the best thing about it, but for those who hate less-than-happy endings, I think something else should be read. I'll admit I was pretty disappointed with the ending. The deaths and the couples I was rooting for that never got together... But the characters were driven into a corner, given no choices that would ultimately make them happy. I think that maybe the story might have been a little too mature for the characters, who were rather young, but that's just my opinion.

This is an amazing manga. Beautiful artwork and storyline.
The anime is a much lighter, happier story, and is nice in addition to the manga. The manga should definitely be read first, though.

This is a really good story. While slow in the beginning, it picks up after the 5th volume or so. The beginning set ups the story and foreshadows wonderfully leaving you little clues to what's going on inside the character's head and what they are going to do next. At first these characters seem one-dimensional, but that really changes later on during the manga.
The artwork seems like a shoujo manga, but this only makes the manga unique. This manga definitely caters to men. Fans of shoujo will love it though.
