This is the story of a forty-year-old salary man who quits his job to pursue his dream of becoming a manga artist and the family that has to put up with him. While not terribly unhappy, Shizuo Oguro can't fight the feeling that something in his life just isn't right, so he walks away from his stable (yet boring) day job to embark on a journey of self-discovery. Unfortunately for his family, this journey also involves playing video games all day while his teenage daughter and elderly father support him. Will Shizuo succeed in creating a true manga masterpiece or will he be just another drop-out living a life of slack?

It's good. No, honest.

I bet at least 90% of the people here who got a sneak peek at the manga would be put off by both the story and the art. But never mind those, there's plenty of manga out there for them (that I wouldn't touch with a 10 meter pole, instead).

I was a bit sceptical about the art myself, at first, but it's grown on me. And it does fit perfectly with the story. You can't help but get the feeling that this manga is at least a little autobiographical.

i quite like the art myself and i honestly think it's quite nice...different and bit sketchy but does the job and it does appeal to's not a horribly unskilled caricature sort of thing if u expect something like that....i'm in chapter 11 right now of the 2nd volume and i did enjoy what i've read

the story is essentially a slice of life one so it takes time to develop and is not fast like in other genres as is usually the case with slice of life...i find the story quite interesting and that it has to do with a 40 something guy drifting aimlessly through life while obviously doing far too little to achieve his dream of becoming a's a cross between funny and sad....

i dont really know yet what rating i should give
p.s: read till ch.21 now...still enjoy it...

I can only second pnyxtr's comment.
Another fine example of an alternative manga, that's so likable that you'll stop caring about the art instantly. If that sort of thing bothers you usually.
I think a lot of people will be able to relate to the main character in some aspects. What else would you call reading manga aside from "slacking off". ;-)
