Matsuri is a girl like all the other high school girls. She likes boys, especially one called Wataru, but he hardly notices her even though she watches him like a crazy gal. "Tough girls aren't my type," he once said, and now even three street guys call her a tough chick?! Nothing too good to say to the wrestling Princess. Being this kind of princess is nothing to be proud of for Matsuri so it's a secret that she keeps from her school mates, because it's her father who wants to make her a wrestler...but what will happen when she's discovered fighting those three guys by Arata, the bad boy who can even "fight cows"? Discover it and keep track of Matsuri Special!

Not shoujo

I see a lot of comments, both positive and negative, claiming that this manga is a "shoujo". Actually, it's not, it's a shounen work running in Jump Square, a shounen publication. Of course, it's going to have a lot of female fans, but it is aimed at boys.

I think this is turning out to be a very fun read and I'm confident that it will prove itself to be an extremely entertaining story!

Kamio Youko is doing a great job setting up character's personalities and allowing them to grow as the series progresses (just as she did in HYD and Cat Street), and I'm looking forward to uncovering the truth behind each one.

This series carries more humor than her previous ones, and I am truly enjoying my time reading each chapter. I love Matsuri's energy and crude nature, and how her true feelings conflict with her actions. Her crush on the good-looking classmate shouldn't be so misunderstood and criticized...she's just a kid with a crush! It happens to us all at one, or many, points in our lives and shouldn't be seen as a weakness.

No, I don't believe it's going to shock anyone with an ending that comes from left field, but the ride will still be what makes you want more! The author's previous stories threw in many unexpected twists and turns, just as I suspect this one will do, making the story as a whole something to love.

In a nutshell, it's by a girl, for girls, and I'm a girl, so of course I love it! If you have any bad feelings toward anything just mentioned, you may not like it as much!! But if you're looking for a sweet story with memorable characters, you should really give this series a try!

okay i LOVE LOVE this.

its damn funny. hilarious!

i like the female character. she's strong but doesnt show off.
i also like Arata alot! he looks like a yankee but he's totally different.
i hope those 2 develope more. teehee~

the pretty-boy i dont like much. he's so stuck up.
but we'll see.

oh and the characters all look alot like those from Hana Yori Dango.
well no suprises since they have the same author.
and HYD was awesome too!

Finally a heroine that's not a total wimp. I'm so sick of all those girls that can only cry each time something happens to them (some of them cry even when they're happy, dumb). Matsuri might not be the smartest heroine ever, but at least she can deffend herself and doesn't need constant babysitting.
This manga has it all: a great plot, plenty of gags, nice artwork.
I recommend this manga to anyone who appreciates great stories.

its funny and all, but from the first 6 chapters i can tell thats that is no strong heroine, she might be physicaly strong, but her personality is really weak . beside i cant understand how can somebody fall for someone that hard just based on his looks, specially when you know he is an asshole it really pissed me off. are japanese girls are really as shallow as presented in manga? i dont really think so, but they are like that in almost every manga so its starting too get hard not to think so.

Not something u would expect of Kamio-sense, but its still awesome to boot. Matsuri is a pro wrestler and makes you think of tsukushi sometimes from HYD. and Arata can be likened to tsukasa, and she first falls in love with Wataru, which is similar to Rui. All in all, a wonderful read.

I expected so much more. Instead I got mediocre cliche shoujo without any charm.
It's not shounen. The art-style, characters and tropes are all from shoujo. It doesn't really matter if it was published in Jump. And all other manga from the author is shoujo.
And this is not a good shoujo. Almost all(if not all) characters are one-dimetional.
If you want better manga with same themes, read Yawara, which, sadly, is being translated very slowly.

Honestly with such an interesting and an un-overly used plot theme, it could have been great. The heroine is a total IDIOT though, and i'm not just talking about her being embarrassed about being a wrestler.....but WHY she's attracted to her schoolmate. It's not like has done anything anything nice for her, or even shown some deep sensitive side or something...it makes absolutely no sense at all, and the fact that it dragged on with it, just ruined what could have been a perfectly good story. Would have done better without any romance at all.

If you're looking for something fun, amusing, and heartwarming, you'll love this series--even if you don't usually like shojo. The characters feel very real, and may sometimes irritate you, but learn and grow as the story progresses.

I wouldn't let the reviews complaining about the jerk love interest dissuade you, all signs (at least to me) point to Matsuri ultimately ending up with the other guy. You also may be put-off that Matsuri has a crush on this jerky character. Well, she doesn't know herself very well yet, and is a bit lost as to what she really wants (with both boys and wrestling), like most girls her age. So, you might even say that this is a story about Matsuri "finding herself"!
