I am IN LOVE with this series. I can't tell you why it's so special - why it's so addicting, why I have to check for new chapters every day - only that it is.
The art is okay; older, and nothing fantastic, beautiful, or blow-me-away amazing, but the main girl is pretty and the boys are bishies. Also, both the female lead and male love interest have the same dark-colored hair - weird, as the lovers generally have hair with contrasting colors, but new and different, so I'll take it.
The story isn't that original: just basically a girl getting into show business and chasing after the guy she likes who just so happens to be a mega star. There's a love rival, of course, who actually seems to have a chance with the main character (for once).
But there are several unexpected plot twists, the female lead is mostly likable, the cast of characters are each distinct and interesting, and I'm left wanting more at the end of each chapter.
I love this manga. I think I've read it through to the latest chapter three times now; it's that good. I'm, for lack of a better word, addicted. I can't fully judge this yet, as I'm only up to volume 5, and there are nine volumes, but thus far? I highly recommend this.
Edit:// So I finally finished this - and meh. I really liked the beginning, as I said, but as the manga went on it got more and more angsty, and Mayu began to irritate me. I wasn't a fan of the new love interest (or any of the characters introduced later, really), or how the relationship between him and Mayu was handled - it felt rushed. The end of the manga was mostly tragic, with the final chapter abruptly becoming light and happy, which felt weird. I missed the lightheartedness the manga started with.

Plus, I agree with everyone about the last extra chapter. Really? Tougo and Mio (Yuuya and Mayu's child)? Along with him clearly not being over Mayu yet, Mio is 15, and Tougo is 30-something. That's just creepy - Mio is one thing, because she's a teenager who has a crush on a hot older man she met once ages ago at a wedding, fine, whatever. But I never took Tougo for a pedophile. I couldn't even finish it after he kissed her, I was too weirded out.

after the first chapter I was dubious as to wether I would like it or not, gladly I stuck with it and now I am dying for more, the lead isn't annoying and that is a huge plus for me as most shoujo, most leads are annoying crybabies that you would be glad to slap lol.
nice.

I like this manga. The drawing is cute and the plot is moderately intense. leaving me want to read more. the romance is heart breaking. may be i exaggerated it, but anyway, the romance is good.
I can't wait for the next chapter!
PS: i personally like mangas about singing, acting stuff (like SkipBeat!)

I can't wait how this story would end. I'm so excited what would have come to Mayu's love for Yuuya and would Yuuya take action of his feelings towards her or will he choose to be an idol forever and dwell on his Atsuko's memory.
I wish the updates are a lot faster!

Well...I had quite a high expectation as I was reading this. I got the impression from the summary that this was a plot I'm going to love. The prologue was great. Very sweet and it was kind of like a dream, and I'm sure that's how it felt to them, even if only a little. It was sad that they were separated, but I knew they were going to meet again, so I read on.
I found that from then on the series didn't quite meet my expectations.
First of all...I hate it when mangas about showbiz do things that aren't realistic. I suppose the series handled it quite alright. I love music just as much as the next guy, but I'll admit that I don't know much about the world of music production. So I can't fairly judge the manga's take on forming a bad and surviving in the industry, but some things just felt off to me as I was reading it in the music aspect, especially those remarks about making one's own sound, and how friend's sound has changed...I somehow don't think the public even notice these things. IMHO it's either they're good, or they're bad. But that's just me, I guess.
Next, the characters don't feel like they have much depth in them, really.
Mayu...doesn't appeal to me. She's the typical shoujo lead: friendly, has a two guys who love her very much, cheerful but can also get quite dejected (especially concerning main love interest)...you know the deal. Nothing much is revealed about her beyond that. Hopefully more of her character background & growth will be shown in the chapters I have yet to read.
Yuuya is alright. He's a professional, and one can see that as well as looking out after Mayu, he gives his all in career. Oh, and his hair -totally- looks better in the prologue. Wish they'd change his hairstyle back. Uh, anyways...I can see why he'll find it difficult to approach Mayu, so I can forgive the lack of advancement in the love department...for now.
Tougo. Now, I love Tougo, but I really think his character could've been explored a bit more. At this point (chapter 1 of vol.3) I'm feeling like he's somewhat of a social inept, who knows what he's doing in the music industry...but someone mentioned he's a music idiot(?!) Anyway...I actually prefer him over Yuuya at the moment. Not sure if that'll change. Yuuya hasn't done much more than being professional in what he does anyway (so far).
It's hard to truly enjoy the singing bits when all you have is pictures, the lyrics scattered around the page, and the audiences' comments. Nothing can be done about that...but I was slightly bothered nonetheless.
I really want to get into this series...and I'm hoping the series will get better. Will probably edit once I've finished (read: once it's all scanlated)

i havent come across a good manga in a LONG time and i finally found one. im still in the mood of it. the story is unique and interesting. even though the art isnt the best, it is pretty good seeing that it was published in 1997. i cant wait for the next chapter. wow it feels so good to read a good manga.
---edit---
